What's hilarious is that many creationists actually think that's how evolution is supposed to work. However, engineers have learned to copy evolution to solve problems beyond the reach of design. They call those copies, "genetic algorithms."

They work just like evolution, beginning with an inefficient solution, and then that is randomly modified by random mutation, after which the most efficient are retained for further mutation. Each generation becomes more efficient. Often the engineers aren't sure why the final result is more efficient; often the process uses effects that are subtle or poorly-understood.

And yet it works.

That's kinda ironic. The premise of the joke was to start with an inefficient "spoon", add random mutation, end with an efficient "pot", yet everyone knows these are the products of intelligence not "random mutation". I thought it was funny how nobody believes nature could make a spoon or pot, yet we are led to believe nature made stuff much more complex than a spoon or pot.
