In this secular worldview, children are wise enough to make decisions about their gender, but young adults are not yet developed enough to make other decisions.

Yes, children should be allowed to work out their gender identity for themselves, with the guidance of others (and NOT with the guidance of "conversion therapists"), while 18-year-olds should not be able to go and purchase murder weapons to slaughter nearly 20 children in a public school while the police stand around gawking. This is not hard to figure out!
