In the 14th-16th the black death ravished Europe, aka the plague.

To keep from getting infected this is the mask that the doctors wore

I would've thought that's what they'd wear for Bird Flu.

CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies)

They are starting to get with the program. People have been wearing masks in other countries for quite some time.

They note that the USA can't manufacture enough masks, so they tell people to make their own. If everybody had their own P100 mask to wear in public 19 could be gotten in control faster. They need to make some professional masks already. Not just homemade ones.

Its back before that and well that's not a doctor but one who just counted deaths ,and tried to find a cure ,its in an interesting read on that ,look up plaque doctor

I never explained the logic behind these masks that the doctors wore around the 17th century to protect themselves from the plague.

They thought that bad smells were the source of infections, if it smells bad it must be bad.

Therefore they would put some kind of strong smelling substance, like perfume, at the tip of the beak to overpower any bad smells.

I was just making a joke due to the shape of the mask.

But im guessing you will still have to take the mask off when entering a bank. Protecting yourself from 19 might not cut it.
