Christian Faith, Jewish Faith ?

thanks john for the new thread... looking forward to a good discussion. The church where I attend has a few Jews for Jesus, but honestly I have never ask them what made them change their minds and come to Christ for salvation.. I guess I'll have to. I've talked to many different faiths and beliefs of Christianity.

Hi,
I started a thread elswhere but I will repost it here, too.
I will answer questions as best as I am able (I am NOT a Rabbi) about Judaism.

The requirements of the Messiah (Messiah means annointed) are as follows:
He must be Jewish
He must be from the house of David
He must be from the seed of Solomon
He will be "annointed" king of Israel
He will bring the Jewish people back to Israel
He will reign in the final Temple that will be permantly established
He will bring peace and end all war
He will bring knowledge of God to the world

Some things He will not be:
He will not be a deity, just an annointed king. David was a messiah. King Cyrus was a messiah
He will not die and come back, his work will be completed while reigning
There is NO requirement that he be born from a virgin (this is a mistranslation from Hebrew to Greek and many translations are now correcting this, many are not as the virgin story is so entrenched in the story of Jesus)
He will not die for our sins as human blood can never be used to atone for sin (animal blood is how priests used to atone for unintentional sin in the Temple. Animal blood was never used to atone for personal sin.)

Please understand, I know that Christians are very secure in the translation of their bible but many of the translations in the Christian bible O.T. are different from the Jewish bible.
Hope I anwered your questions... Any more?

OK, let me clear all this up. All posts referring to discussing Messianic Prophecy have been moved and merged into the "The Jewish Messiah requirements" thread. Some heavy posting and discussing going on there and it was too confusing having it go on in two places.

Yes, your was first, but no offense, the other thread took off and seemed to be going off in a more theological direction. Both threads can stay, but lets confine Messianic Prophecy to the other thread.

Thanks for understanding.
