Also the VIP Supporter list has dropped off the User Legend near the bottom of the page, however it appears that the list still exists.

the only problem with this is sometimes people get angry and start derepping others. A lot of forums have a system like this (but not all), maybe like 50% that I've seen/been on

I've been on boards that had this rep system and there is a way to set how many times a person can rep another in a given amount of time. For example on PDF (Pearl drummers forum) we have a system that only allows you to rep a person once, then you must rep someone else before reping the same person again and on top of that you can only rep a few times in a 24 hour period. Neg rep sprees can be reported and the effected individual(s) can be restored.

IMHO = In my honest opinion.

REP = reputation

Ne rep sprees: a person or people who gang up on an individual(s) to artificially bring their reputation level down in order to the individual(s) look bad.

I'm not a big fan of the graphical ranking system. I'm a simpleton who likes the name titles we have now which are based on the overall number of posts one has.

I certainly am not in favor of a "ranking" system that is based on some sort of a users voting system.

I don't really understand the value of a ranking system, can someone offer some insight? What is it's purpose? I'm sorry, but I am not getting a sense of it by what's already been said here.

Vic, I don't think I would be for it either, but I have never heard of it and I'm not really sure how or why it's used. Does it have a practical application for the board administration?

If I am correct, it's a popularity gauge. Despite my post numbers, I didn't come here to be popular. By the looks of some of the PMs I've gotten in the past, I've succeeded. :D
