I'm tossing around the idea of starting up a small business of providing remote churches, or churches without musicians or the means to provide their own music, with music 'backing tracks'. This could be accomplished with either physical CDs or direct downloads from the Internet.
All of the musical arrangements would be 'unique' to the business (i.e. not available anywhere else) but would for the most part be contemporary arrangements of existing hymns and gospel songs as created by yours truly. This method of providing music for church worship has been most successful in my home church for the past 8 years. Obviously, someone to 'lead out' in song is essential to the success of this method. Lyrics to the songs - even a Powerpoint Presentation - could be provided with the 'physical' music.
Can anyone foresee any problems - other than copyright, permission from authors, etc. - with such a proposal? This would not be a 'get rich' scheme but it might be fairly successful. In addition, it would provide music with which to 'sing-along' to those who might otherwise be without. In the past a number of these instrumental CDs containing embedded song lyrics have been sent as a gift to several remote areas of New Guinea.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
