Christian Symbols above pagan sites

What are your views about the use of Christian symbols being used to show the triumph of Christ. EG. The Cross above the circle of the world, Church buildings built on old pagan sites, The nativity story superimposed on a pagan festival. Are there positives, is it all negative or can it be a mixture of good and bad?

well-something I always found interesting-and I was talking about this to my grandparents is the pentagram

most think its satanic-BUT it was actually originally used to represent the 5 wounds of christ
and the cross was often in the center-throws people off I'll say that much

the neo pagan movement and christianity often don't get along (neo pagans aren't satanists-satanists are either silly teens or messed up black metal artists who burn churches)
all threwout history both "sides" haven't been so nice to eachother
its the best its been in 2000 years between them

To be honest (and I mean this quite seriously) I'm much more concerned about how Christians use Christian symbols. Just today I was cut off in traffic by someone with a Christian bumper sticker. How does that show Christ's love? If I were someone who was seeking God, one rude "Christian" driver might be all it takes to make me look somewhere else.

Of course we all make mistakes, and we all need grace. I just think as Christians we need to be a lot more aware of how we use our symbolism, and a lot less concerned about how others are using it.

Christians can be some of the worst people in the world, when they want to be.

The other day my youngest son ran in the house, so excited. "Mommy, I found something for you!" He said while reaching into his pocket. He had found a necklace pendant on the ground and was so happy to give it to me. It had a heart at the top with the yin yang symbol and was molded onto a cross. I didn't know what to think of it, but I hugged him and said, "Thank you for thinking of me."
