christianforums.com ...what happened

"Odd" is a kindly word it. "A crock of something smelling quite foul" is probably closer to the mark, frankly.

Wow some seriously obnoxious and extremely un-Christian replies here. If this is what this place is like, frankly I hope I can get the issue quickly resolved and return. They aren't perfect, but I never ran into such a swarm of hate-infested spitting as I'm seeing in this one thread.

PS and FYI pls note I wasn't asking what you thought of it, only if anyone else was having trouble. Thanks to the few who managed polite replies.
I agree that this forum has a lot of Un-Christian replies.

Fishing for business for that site?

FYI I was able to get there fine at work...not sure what the diff is. I tried clearing cache etc etc. Strange. I pinged a mod and will let you know if I find anything out.........

Thank you. I had trouble before getting in but thought it was FF. I do miss it there

Depends were one starts such a thread. If you start it in GT (General Theology) maybe will be fine with that but if one starts it in the Catholic or Orthodox sub-forum then I am sure that it would not be so welcomed

See post 11 and 16
Seven years of direct experience (at that site) taught me all I needed to know.

As to whatever you think you perceived in my posts, it was merely exposing their own positions, which the majority of pew sitters have no clue of. Pity when you have to get members to fess up to their own doctrines. Kind of a turn of their own screw. The opposite tack of what a lot of engagements take. The majority done in GT btw. Never in their own sub forum.

It was actually a lot of fun to see their heavy hitters sheepishly bow and admit in public where they really stand. Quite fun.

Been to the dot com a few times.....seemed very watered down. They had a purge??? I thought this site had a massive purge. See members passing themselves off as new though I've seen them here for years. Others that were here ....vanished without a trace. And some that show to have been here for years seemed to have changed names. But I saw and remembered netchaplain. He's always been around.

Internet discussion boards were very very helpful for me in sorting out various positions of large swaths of christian denominationalism. In the years after my "born again" experience I had to personally visit sects, sit under their teachings, examine, fact check to scriptures. It was very tedious and time consuming. But with the dawn of electronic information sharing in the early 90's it was so much better to simply ask respective members what their official positions were. There were some great protestant believers at the site in question and likewise some very talented older (we can't talk about them here) orthodox posters. I found the contrasts to be exceptionally helpful, for my protestant roots, which generally formed from protests against religious corruptions of the prior mentioned. Surface views are for surface examiners. I prefer to get at the heart of the matters, ugly as they really are. It is one thing to sit, dumb and happy happy. It is quite another to know that you may be sitting with people who are not all that nice/kind in their beliefs toward other christians, which was at the heart of my quest. I never really understood, in depth, from the time I was a child, WHY various divisions existed in my own family over disputes and outright damnations of each others over catholic/protestant divisions. It really puzzled me as a child. My questions have been answered by electronic information sharing.

I've also had some completely enjoyable scriptural discourses with some very learned folk over a long period of time, coming to know some of these people, personally. I spent 2 years for example with one of the heads of Jews for Judaism discussing, quite politely, their official sights of O.T. scriptures. We looked at basically, everything therein. It was fun to hear how they hear things. (hint-strongly literal/external applications and understandings.) And of course I sit in an opposite seat that examines "internal" perspectives with heavy emphasis on allegory/parable/similitude understandings.

Also had the opportunity to again examine "fringe" elements, which I would never partake in via personally sitting under. Mormonism, Mysticism, various christian Messianics, Shepherds Chapel, WWCoG, CoC, JWs, etc. Mostly from the CARM site but some from cf.com

In short just a whole lotta fun if you enjoy the arena of theology engagements. What I found in the end was that I can agree with just about any believer wholeheartedly in the Nicene creed arena for example. There is a lot of commonality of agreement there. Which oddly, the NICEne creed accidentally points to.

Part of what may contribute to getting along is that I flat out refuse to condemn anyone who has called upon Jesus to save them for any reasons whatsoever. Even if their own doctrines demand they potentially eternally condemn themselves. It makes for interesting engagements, when trying to convince them that I can legitimately take such a STAND FOR THEM when they can't for themselves. Quite odd.

I ain't changed and I am not going to be there. I'm the same name and guy I have always been.

The one who comes to mind immediately was Pancakes, a troubled young lady who got kicked in the teeth by a staff member named Abdicate. Always felt sorry for her and prayed for her. She seemed to be the forum whipping boy....errr girl. Now both have vanished without a hint they ever even existed....and what about Major? ..he was here for years...now poof...gone...never existed.

I just don't get why some people think there denomination of Christianity is better than another. Catholic, Protestant, non-denominational Christians, and all other denominations, it's all Christianity and everyone should be treated with respect for their beliefs.

Everyone thinks their slice of the truth trumps everyone elses. Human nature. Denominations are man-made not God-made.

I respect that, but you have only been here about a year according to your profile. What I'm talking about is people that had been here 10 years or several years just vanishing........looks like some sort of forum purge/revolution.....whatever.
