Before I start off, Ill make it clear that Im not being anti-semitic, Im simply daring to call a spade a spade. If you consider me anti-semitic, then you call Jesus anti-semite as well. He spoke the harsh words in Mathew 23:35, not me.
Anyway, I really cannot understand why many Christians are blindly infatuated with the modern state of Israel, like as if a prophet or the messiah personally helped restore it. The ugly truth is that todays Israel was mostly founded by atheists, (those are NOT my words... a pro-israel sites shamelessly says so... http://www.zionism-israel.com/zionism_issues.htm says so)
And for some reason, a lot of christians I know hold the opinion that Jews are exempt from accepting Jesus as messiah because they are descendants of Abraham. These christians are not bothered by the fact that Judaism, not only rejects the messiah, but considers him as a false prophet who died a shameful death. And they continue defending the modern state of Israel and Judaism.
And I really dont think there is anything in the bible that can prove that God is ok with the Jews following a religon that considers the messiah as a false prophet. After all this, if you still think that its still ok because Jews are "chosen" people because of all those verses about being restored back to Israel..well, Matthew 3:9 should be enough.
However, I dont disagree for a second that the restoration of Israel has prophetic significance. Just that whatever unfolds need not be as rosy as its made out to be,
“Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross to Me; therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin in the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst. As silver is melted in the midst of a furnace, so shall you be melted in its midst; then you shall know that I, the Lord, have poured out My fury on you.’†(Ezekiel 22:19-22)
