Christians Don't Wear Clothes
Recently I read an article from a secular cultural magazine. The article highlighted the story of a woman who credited her Hindu faith in her heroic struggle against an oppressive government. What struck me as interesting was that in her description of her faith she talked as if she was wearing an article of clothing.
Then it occurred to me that both the author of the article, and the woman in the article, talked about the Hindu religion as if it was only an accessory. With Christianity we don't talk about our faith as an accessory to our beliefs, but as if it were an integral part of us.
The difference between Christianity and other religions is that we as Christians actually have Jesus Christ inside us, through the indwelling Holy Spirit, not simply as an accessory.
Christians often wonder why they are always personally attacked for their beliefs whereas other religions are so readily accepted with praise and reverence. The fact is that for anyone to attack our religion, the christian religion, they must first attack us personally for our religion is inside us through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, not outside like an article of clothing as in other religions.
Again, for anyone to attack the christian religion they must first attack the person who believes, for our religion is inside us. Other religions are just coverings, that hide man's sinfulness like an article of clothing, and can be removed at will. Christianity cannot be removed like an article of clothing because it is now a part of us, inside us, with the indwelling Holy Spirit. This is why when others religions are attacked they attack the religion not the individual.
When nonbelievers attack the christian with personal attacks they are really acknowledging that we are different, that Jesus Christ is indwelling inside us. So be of good cheer christian believers, for when others personally attack us they are actually confirming that Jesus Christ is indeed inside us and that our salvation is being confirmed.
God Bless
