Christians Ethics

Christian ethics is quite simple.
To love and obey the one and only true, living God.
And to do good to one another.
This can be expanded quite a bit, but basically, this is it.

But there are things that separate us from God that we should be aware of so that they do not take hold in our lives.
Lust of the flesh, the thing that can cause us to sin against our bodies.
Idolatry, putting other things before God, thus worshiping false gods.
Christians often use the word blasphemy. I see it as losing our holiness that God has called us to be.
Apostasy, when we choose to believe something other than the truth of the Gospel.
Despair, a word we may not give much attention to but it causes us to lose hope, the hope that God gives us.
Hatred, it can consume us and separate us from communion with God.

Indifference, think about this word.
It's what causes us to harden our hearts.
Pride or ego, this is when we put ourselves first and not God.

These are things that we combat everyday of our lives.
Putting God first and foremost helps prevent these things from happening.
When we are walking and talking with God, our Christian ethics will be where God wants them to be and the peace and love of God will flow from us.

Would anyone care to add to this?

Allenwynne , the ethics you have posted are ethics i would love to see put into use around here...
To love and obey the one and only true, living God.
And to do good to one another.
said slightly different is the mission statement along with 2.4 of the ToS
ChristianForums.net aspires to provide a place where Christians can come together in fellowship for encouragement, inspiration, and strength to help build each other up and grow in our walk of faith through honest and open discussion, study, reflection, and prayer.
1) Give other members the respect you would have them give to yourself.
Address issues/ideas, not persons or personalities. Do not insult, publicly post derogatory opinions of others, post insinuation to belittle or discredit, or otherwise create a hostile environment. Present evidence for support or rebuttal during debate. Bashing the author of another view or opinion is not evidence.
ToS 2.4
Most important :
Mat 22:37 Jesus Says to us said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Thanks Allen

Integrity - the root word of integrity is integer, which means "a whole number."

The root word of hallow (aka holy) is "hal" which means "complete."

Thus holiness and integrity are similar concepts to me: to be whole. This speaks to being healed of past wounds and hurts in order to be whole. This speaks to being the same person in public, in private and in every situation. This speaks against being double-minded.

Having integrity with people and holiness before God is big part of Christian ethics for me, especially as a preacher.
