Christians Who Commit Suicide

God is mercy and grace He looks on our hearts ... We can have broken hearts just like we can have a broken bone

I had a little argument with a friend once, it was about Christians who commit suicide she said that the Bible does not speak on it. And I said it does behind the fact that you commit murder and you are now dead and can't ask for forgiveness. So the question is will that send you to hell ? I told her yes, was that wrong or right ?

ok grace cant cover that sin? if so what bout if you are angry with your wife then go out the door and are ran over? you didn't forgive your wife, off to hell with ya. what about any sin we commit. only god knows.

I agree, only God knows, some people who claim Christ are not saved in the first place, as we know the Lord will say to some that He never knew them.

It's a matter of the heart, and just because a person doesn't ask for forgiveness for every single sin, doesn't mean a person has then turned his back on God and forfeited their salvation. After all, we have sins we are unaware of, too.

I don't believe that suicide would send one to hell, but we should be careful with that, too. A year or two back there was someone here who was suicidal, and the conversation on suicide going on at the time was unintentionally encouraging them.

Although the issue of suicide is not directly addressed in the Bible, it does fall under the commandments of God - specifically, "you shall not murder." The Bible in Basic English translates the phrase, "Do not put anyone to death without cause." The Hebrew word used here is ratsach, which nearly always refers to intentional killing without cause (unless indicated otherwise by context). Since suicide is the intentional, premeditated murder of an individual, it would also be banned by the commandment. According to the Bible, murder (or suicide) is prohibited because humans are made in the image of God:

Please clarify
Post traumatic stress disorder. depression, bi polar, medications such as anti-malarial which have been linked to suicidal idealations and and actions by disrupting the chemistry of the brain.

yeah...I dunno....

...before I was a Christian, I heard voices telling me to kill myself, once, long ago. I was bashed on the head w/ a pipe and ended up wandering to a bridge in a kinda large city, about to jump. On the plus side, the police came and got me. On the downside, I was electroshocked that night. Head injuries apparently don't stop shrinks from zapping poor people.

That's neither here nor there...

I think suicide is tragic, but not unforigvable. My friend told me about one of her relatives...her sister took her husband. The husband wouldn't let her see the kids. Took a lot of money, too. That woman killed herself. Is she in Hell? I would hope not.

Hey it's nice up here, you all look like little dots down there, excuse me while I have a word with president Lincoln a minute president Reagan come on up you all you won't be disappointed

I had to get my wife to decipher this one. I get it now.

The husband cheated on his wife with her sister, right? Then the wife and mother committed suicide.

OK...husband and wife. had kids. Husband cheated w/ wife's sister, divorced wife, went for sister. Divorced wife shot herself.

Got it. It was just the use of the word "took" that had we wondering who took whom, where, and to see what.

God did not create us with illnesses ... That is not part of His image... yet we get them... Just as a christian can end up with cancer ... IMO a Christian can end up with a mental illness....

We worship the Lord in Spirit and truth... that IMO is beyond our minds... sorta...

Let me try an example... My Dad died of Encephalitis
Encephalitis is irritation and swelling (inflammation) of the brain, most often due to infections.
it cost him his brain power... he was not himself for a couple years... his speech made no sense.. some times we thought maybe he knew us etc.. One of his favorite hymns Blessed Assurance Jesus is mine.. play that for him and you could see his spirit calm..

The point i am trying to make is the separation between spirit and mind...

Another example ... A christian buddy of yours ups and offs himself .... they do a autopsy find his brain is full of tumor... do you really think he is in hell for having a tumor?
