Christmas Trees' And Lights

I know I keep getting blasted when I say that the Lord told me so rather than quoting chapters and verses, but I do pray and I do believe that God answers prayer, in spite of the fact that folks tell me that it just might be someone other than God's voice that I hear.
Okay, here goes; here is my chapter and verse:

Luke 11:10-12 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if [he ask] a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

My thought: If I ask Jesus a question, he will answer me.
My question: "Lord, what would you have me do about celebrating Christmas, and putting up a Christmas tree?"
The answer that came back to me from the Lord: "Enjoy it"

He also made it clear to me that he is very unhappy with the idol that we call Santa Claus. Anything and everything that I had with the image of the jolly old elf or his flying reindeer got trashed many years ago.

I wonder how long it will take the world to give him supernatural godlike qualities, like they did Nicholas?

Do not take my word for it. Ask Him yourself.

Lewis, God looks on the heart Ring those Christmas bells!

Thank you Gabby. I will say this to be honest' when I was little Santa sure was fun. But I think my mom told me the truth when I was about 6 or a little earlier. And boy was my dad's parents ticked off at her. My grandmom was livid.

I don't know anyone who has had a 'good' experience with finding out the truth about Santa. At the very least, parents lose credibility. I know of a couple of terrible things that have occurred as a result though.

One man I used to know became bitter and resentful at the thought that not only had his parents lied to him, but the entire world was in on this conspiracy. Another discovered how easy it was to perpetuate a lie.

And hey I needed some more GI' Joe's and Hot Wheels' and OO7 equipment' and Batman and Green Hornet stuff. Are you kidding me' I had to have that stuff along with other goodies' you name it. :-D :D

We get all excited here because it has dropped below 80 degrees and we get to wear sweaters and jackets. We have snowmen, it is just that they are made out of plastic, plywood, vinyl, and occasionally they are made out of sand.

And your weathermen get to say inane things like: "It's 77 degrees but, bundle up, because the wind chill is going to make it feel like 73."

Hi Lewis,

No, I don't think those who celebrate Christmas will be in Hell...it's just not what's best for our family. I do not find it to be God's best either. We try to be Spirit led, and we have been called to separate from this holiday for all the things that we would probably all would agree are not Godly.

We are trying to establish a path of celebrating/honoring Truth for our children. We get a lot of judgement from other believers during this time, who seem to be offended that we do not honor December 25, but it is easy to forgive because we really do understand how they feel, and what their concerns are...we would think the same things, if God had not changed our hearts on the matter.

A lot of other people think we are just simply depriving our children, but I hope that time will show that we are giving them richer gifts, lasting ones that will be stored in Heaven.

Our children love what we do, and so do we, and it teaches them, or gives them, pictures of Christ while making them familiar with the Old Testament prophecy, and really just hiding the Word in them in this area. It's a teaching. We do not do the traditional Christmas, but we have added in lots of other things that express, or reflect, the first coming of Christ, the Church, and that look ahead to the second coming of Christ (I think about nine extra). We just want to fill them up with God while they are so young, and make memories that will remind them of Him, and us worshipping Him as a family in Spirit, and in Truth. Plus, we get to have a lot of celebrations throughout the year...except for the summer, when it seems to be more defined by work.

So, our traditions, though not nostalgic in a traditional sense, are designed to be enjoyable, special, and will build memories of a different kind. That is not our focus, though, but rather to honor God, and celebrate Truth in order to reinforce it for our little ones, this is what we desire to underscore. I hope that our children grow, and become believers, and are thankful in the future that we swam against the current in an effort to obey God leading, and to pave the way for them.

So, we do not judge others for the days they redeem for the Lord, nor do we feel obligated to keep the feasts...we are just seeking to please Him, worship Him, and know Him better.

Anyway, I hope that everyone just simply honors God every day, and that they do all things as unto Him. The Lord bless you, all of you, as you worship Christ.

Vic,

It's so nice that someone here understands in this area. I was going to expound on the reasons why, but I think you already know them. The Lord bless you.
