On Saturday, Dec. 2nd, Jamie and I attended the 50th Birthday Party for the Citrus Tower in Clermont, just up the road from our house. We did not get to go to the top on that day; Santa had his temporary North Pole set up and was listening to the kiddos' wishes. Yesterday we returned. We had not been to the the top of the tower since 2000. They have tiled the floor and made other improvements to the facility. If you are ever in the area make a stop.
House of Presidents is a great roadside attraction. The gentleman who owns it has an extensive collection of memorabilia as well as models of the White House, the Oval Office and the Battleship Maine.
Anyone know the make and model of this car?
We went to the top around 5pm to enjoy the sunset at 5:30. The sunset was nice but not as spectacular as we were hoping. It was more of a twilight zone, gray and then dark sequence. Though disappointed, I still give props to God for making the effort.
After sunset we drove around nearby Winter Garden to look at light displays and then to Disney's Boardwalk area between Epcot and the Disney/MGM Studios. We go there every year to wander around the lake (about a mile) and enjoy the various displays at the Disney hotels.
WDW Dolphin Resort, white flower tree about 20 ft. tall.
Disney's Yacht Club Resort decorated with tiny sail boats.
Disney's Beach Club Resort. Notice the tiny skiers beside the cable cars, everything moved!
Notice the tiny skiers next to the cable cars.
Beach Club also had a large, working carousel made entirely out of chocolate.
Not to be outdone, Disney's Boardwalk Resort had a large cabin scene with Mickey and Minnie, made from chocolate.
Soon after we took this shot we ran over to the ESPN Club where we joined about 30 strangers to watch the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery. Night launches are always amazing! This was the first night launch since 2002. I did not take any pics because I knew my father's camera would have a better perspective. After the launch we saw an amusing juggler who wore various hats which he used as props. He would juggle balls and then roll them off of the hats.
Display from the WDW Swan Resort.
God Bless America. I am so fortunate to live in an area which provides so much free entertainment. This season, go out and roam a little. Look for those festivals, displays, mansions, whatever, because this country has so much to offer. Life. Enjoy it. -JG 12.10.06
