Co-Ed Dorms
As for my own self, being placed in a single-gender dorm freshman year in a school that was about 90% Caucasian destroyed my sense of balance. I prefer multi-cultural environments with both genders present. Overall, I'm fairly neutral on the subject. While I would agree that such a situation presents huge temptation, the temptation is there regardless. I sometimes wonder if the arrangement of co-ed dorms does not in some way heighten temptation. But by the same token, I know from personal experience and accounts from others my age that true seperation has to be enforced somewhat stringently and leads to increased temptation.

im glad im in a co-ed dorm. its more fun. all the girls are taken, but its more interesting. (specially since my campus is 80% guys...)

I think co-ed dorms are great. You definitely get a different dorm experience with girls around :-P In hallway discussions or dorm events, I think it's great to bond and get along with girls ... they provide such a different viewpoint from my own or the guys I know.
One thing that makes me a tad uncomfortable though are the co-ed bathrooms... :-\

Co-ed bathrooms are taking it too far, in my opinion. Personally, I'm uncomfortable with co-ed dorms, so bathrooms are really out there to me.

well, I guess like, In the style dorm I have, Co ed wouldn't be too practical. 25 guys and 7 girls sharing a not too large bathroom
But in a suite style living, where there is 1 bathroom, with 1 shower 1 toilet stall, and 2 sinks, I think that would be ok if like, 2 girls and 4 guys shared the suite..

I would not be a fan of co-ed dorms at all. Too much temptation and far too inappropriate, I think (especially co-ed bathrooms... and as a girl with and older brother-- SICK! I was super glad when my parents gave us separate bathrooms when we moved/were older). Men and women not only tend to live vastly different (one sex, on average, is FAR cleaner than the other and much less smelly).
But aside from all the practical reasons to separate them, it's entirely against purity and chastity for men and women to live together in those sorts of circumstances.

I live in a co-ed dorm and I haven't had a problem with it at all. I have a girlfriend of over 4 years now and I haven't really had the desire to cheat on her but maybe it's just me. Personally speaking, if something's going to happen, it will happen at college whether or not you're in a coed dorm.
However, I will say that in my case we have suite style dorms where each 2 rooms are full of either only girls or only guys.

I think what everyone is thinking, is co-ed dorms as in 1 room, 1 guy, 1 girl.
But not at all. each room is still male or female only, But the room next door could be the opposite.
and guess what, Girls can be as messy as guys :-P
for 24 guys, w ehave $400 in wing fines (150 being for the total building)
for 7 girls, they have 325 ( 150 being for the total building stuff)
so....

I realize the rooms are still separated by gender, but that is still too close and too much of a temptation in my book.
I don't know about the messier thing. It depends on the person, not whether they are male or female, as to how messy they are.

I guess there is some temptation. But not too much for me atleast. I think its great that I get to meet new girls, and see things forma diffrent genders view, and make decisions in my building based on that.
