Yesterday I was listening to a sermon on the radio. I forgot exactly what it was called, but it was talking about living our life and taking things for granted. It talked about a man who had it all. He was loaded after just closing a multi-million dollar deal and driving his fancy car down the road listening to his favorite music and basking in himself. Suddenly, there was a tragic accident. Witnesses say he went down in the seat and went off ann embankment. When they found him he was dead. The autposy showed that he was stung by a bee right behind the ear and had a bad reaction.
Now, back to me. Many years ago I was stung on the neck by a red wasp. I had a bad reaction and ended up in the hospital where they administered enough benadryl to get the swelling down so I could breathe. Before that I had been stung by some yellowjackets and had a similar reaction.
Last night while working away a friend of mine came over to talk. He said," hey look out for that wasp." There was a yellowjacket on my head and when I slapped it off it came down and stung my left cheek. I immediately thought of that sermon and wished I had listened more carefully to exactly what it was about. My cheek swole and became numb, but after 30minutes went down and it's fine, but it sure made me reflect on a few things. Lately, I've been pretty grumpy with those close to me and focused on things I shouldn't be focused on, worldly things. I think I was given a little wake-up call.
