If i ask Jesus to save me and truly believe that he died on the cross for me, am I not officially saved until I confess with my mouth? Am I suppose to call somebody or run outside to confess to others before I am saved?

I read that:

Act 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved . .

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?

Well if you think about it you are confessing it here now in this thread.. So you are doing it in spirit. If you feel that you need to go and confess it verbally then go and do it, let you conscience be clear before the LORD.

I think (just my opinion) that if you are running this through your mind enough that you would bring it to total strangers on a forum, then you might be feeling an comfortableness in actually telling others that you can be singled out as a believer in Christ. Let's face it, this is really what Jesus meant when He spoke about us having the fear of man in our hearts.

I would do as Adstar suggests, and begin opening your mouth, and letting real words come out that will let other living people hear you say that you follow Christ.

Typing it here isn't really saying it aloud to others where you might be risking genuine ridicule or rejection.

Actually I have thought about it, but if you think about Im not confessing out with my mouth. It was just a question. I see Evangelist on TV saying that if you pray to be saved and if you pray this prayer than its done, when in actuality not official.

I think it might be of some importance to note that verse 14 keeps on going......
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

In some cases, we might be the only "preachers" they are going to hear

None of this should be looked upon as being any sort of "formula" to follow to make anything official or to make it work.

The confessing is not simply a "stand up and utter a sentence stating, thus and so". Confessing means that you, from that moment on, openly and honestly let anyone know where you stand concerning following Christ.

And, neither is this ridiculous parroting of a so-called, "Sinner's Prayer", anything that "saves" you, or kicks into motion some Heavenly process. All that particular time should be, might be the preacher helping you understand, and say what YOU want to convey to God about YOUR desire to follow His son.

Yeah, he'll have to go to the Theology threads and start talking about people's pet doctrines to get that. :lol

I don't discount the importance of openly and unashamedly declaring that you have accepted Christ one bit, but a public baptism is prolly more important to cementing a determination to follow Christ than telling people you are saved.

If a person doesn't step out and acknowledge that they are a disciple of Christ it's too easy to be that disciple when things are great, and too easy to not be that disciple when it costs something to be that disciple. It's like being on a diet when nobody else knows it.

We have "public baptisms" at the church I now attend. But where I was baptized, it was a private (inside the church building, with just some members present) baptism.

I think more churches are going back to public baptisms.

I think you're right and I think that is a wonderful idea. It was such a good jump start for me into my walk with Christ. I guess that's why I love baptisms and why I tell people they should do it and do it as quickly as possible. I never have dry eyes at a baptism. It's such a wonderful moment in time for a believer--a moment I share with them with great joy.

Bathers at the beach always come and watch our baptisms, and once in awhile, they will actually come over and ask some of us questions about what we are doing. It's really uplifting.

What an exciting opportunity.

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

When you believe the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, you turn away from Satan's Kingdom of darkness, and from Satan as your lord.

That is the meaning of repent.

Now you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus or Jesus as your Lord.

This is announcing your allegiance to Jesus as Lord and His Kingdom.

Not exactly the way we do it, but powerful, anyway.

Here's a second one.... because I'm all too aware of the stuffy Pharisaical reaction the first one will likely get... (Very sad...)

gah, that is one ugly looking beach in that has nothing but that hideous grass. lol. that isn't what my side of florida has near me.
Yeah, many of our beach communities are really very serious about keeping it natural. In fact, you can find yourself in jail for messing with that grass or the trees.

Of course, hundreds of other towns have just yanked it all out, and from the street to the water there are only hundreds of feet of sand. These are mainly where the tourists congregate.

I guess each has their attraction

This is how we have ruined most of our beaches. To the right of this photo would be hundreds of fifteen story motels.

Most are like this...
About the best thing we have going is that the sand is all as white as typing paper, and as clean and soft as sugar in a bowl.
