oh we have that here, its naturally sea grapes with not much of that type of grass that cuts. Sebastian inlet and to the south is what im talking about though. google sexton plaza and humiston beach on images and what you just said is also the case.

gah, that is one ugly looking beach in that has nothing but that hideous grass. lol. that isn't what my side of florida has near me.

This is where I was baptized. (St.Croix River) It was right around this time of the year. The water was a bit chilly.

No, that's not me.

we have churches that use lakes or the river and or the ocean.I was baptized in a pool.

This is how we have ruined most of our beaches. To the right of this photo would be hundreds of fifteen story motels.

Most are like this...
About the best thing we have going is that the sand is all as white as typing paper, and as clean and soft as sugar in a bowl.

Is that Singer Island?

That is neat, Gary. My wife was baptized here. It's a spring... about 72°, year-round.

I dunno. I think it's somewhere on Sand Key, near Clearwater. We've got miles and miles of beaches, and they change names every few blocks.

I used to go to a church where everyone got baptized in one of the Elder's swimming pool, across the street from the church. (Everyone here [except me] has a pool)

that area if you look at the 43 photo and compared has been dredged and filled in a lot. the island to the right where it has the bridge has been filled and built up. its almost a sand bar in appearance. look to the south fo the bridges that t and you will see it clearly

Fort Desoto beach is located on Mullet Key. Fort Desoto was a mortar installation built to defend Egmont pass (I think that is its name), a strip of water that leads in from the Gulf through the pass into Tampa Bay that is now spanned by the Sunshine Skyway bridge.
Here are the guns:

this is from the ww2 era not the Spanish American war. there appears to be a baseball field by a bridge with that southern most bridge. the orientation I assume is north to south.

I can post the image. it doesn't fit the location. its odd. the terrain doesn't match up. I use this site a lot and I can use google earth to find a lot. I have done it with my county and ft.pierce. View attachment 5125

Sorry. All I know about is Ft. Desoto... and another military base on the other side of the pass, on Egmont Key. We also had a Coast Guard station in downtown St. Pete, and an airfield out north of St. Pete, on Weedon Island.

this may be a pic of that. I may if I feel the curiousity look that up.

If the 43 photo is of my area, "North" would have to be at the bottom because the beaches are all on the "West".

it depends on how the birds takes the photo. I have seen it here, take photos of the lake from the south. or also coming up the beach from the south.

HERE is a photo of the St. Pete airfield that almost no one knows about.

isn't that in the county to the south? the topos for Pinellas don't have that image. I need the county to go look.

There are three bridges that go across to Tampa. That airfield was just a half mile South of the Southern most bridge (Gandy Bridge), at the western end of the bridge.

The topo shape is pretty much still the same, and I think one of the hangers is still left. There is also a power plant right in that area.
