Mrs. Barbarian and I just walked into the construction site during noon break for the Chinese workers building it. Apparently, they also do siestas after lunch; they were mostly asleep under trees and on benches.

So we got to wander and look around, and shoot what we liked. I know enough Chinese to be concilliatory ("Nin Hao") in case we were stopped. But not enough to be questioned as to what we were doing there. No security whatever.

Flamingos. All of the displays are fabric lanterns stretched over wood/wire frames, and lit from within. When the event opens, I'll be posting the the same shots taken at night.

A different method uses the translucency of porcelain. This full-size replica of a famous temple will be constructed entirely of porcelain tableware on wooden frames, secured by string.
