I just downloaded this book:

consumerism and the growth of apostasy

never heard of the author, but the first two chapters so far are interesting. flipping through it there are lots and lots of scripture references, so even if it's crap it will get me looking for confirmation of author's opinions in the Bible. it's a win-win situation, I guess

Good, like the believers in underground church in russia ---- they would listen intently to the broadcasts denouncing the truth, not for the opinion of the speaker,
but
because the speaker would quote verses from the Bible, and the believers were very hungry for the Bible verses. The believers would listen and memorize the Bible verses, and not even remember what the speaker said about anything.
