Cost of books

Does anyone else think the cost is ridiculous?! I kept my anatomy book after I dropped it because I figured I could use it again. WRONG! They're using a new one and I can't find any used ones. I've looked at the bookstore, other bookstores around here, ebay, amazon and several other sites. The book is $135.50. That is just CRAZY for something I only need for 3 months.

Since I didn't get any financial aid this year, I'm having to pay for everything out of pocket. My poor hubby has worked over 6 days overtime in just 3 weeks time to cover the cost of everything.

UGH!!!! It's just WRONG!!! :evil:

Yeah. No book should cost that much. I'm really happy when buy back come around.

Buy at half.com. That's what I've been doing. I also ask the professors usually if I can use an older edition. That's always a bonus if they say yes. Regardless, books cost WAY too much.

My first semester of nursing school the books cost me a total of $1400. I'm glad I use them for the rest of my career, but thats a hard chunk of change to dish out all at once. The worst one was a nutrition book that cost $120 and I found several mistakes in it, and only used it twice. :x

You get 40% back? That's a lot better than us. I think we only get 25% back.

My books for last Spring totaled over $700. And that was just for my pre-req books!!!!!!!!!!! :evil:

For many of our books we get 50% back. Some cash is better than none for me.

I'm currently at a community college and the buyback is usually better. When I was at KU I would buy $300 or $400 in books and literally only get about $20 back each semester because they would have a new book each semester. :evil:

I lucked out. Most of my books have been "keepers"--they were either good reads that I'm sure I'd want to read again, or books most people already owned (lol). I only got stuck with a few books that I tried to sell back and had to keep--mostly my Latin books, 2 of which we never even used!

I started classes today and my A&P instructor is using the book from last year, so I was able to return my new books today and get a full refund! I was sooooooo relieved.
