3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

What is "mote" and "beam" refering to?

I suggest getting a Bible that is in English.

Try an NIV or NASB.

You will see it is a speck and a plank.

:crying: That was KJV

But same question..
What is "speck" and "plank" refering to?

Speck and plank. "Speck" is referring to a "speck of" something, like "a speck of dust". "Plank" is referring to, well, a plank; a very long, flat piece of wood, although the specifics don't matter.

The NASB puts it this way: " "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?"

What is being said is that one should not point out the sin in someone else's life when there is sin in their own life (possibly much bigger or more serious sin, hence, speck and plank). Essentially, don't judge hypocritically (vs. 5).

My apologies if I ofended you.

I was just saying that a more modern translation is easier to read and understand.

And yes, Free is correct. Jesus is saying pay more attention to the sins in your life instead of worrying about (judging) other people's sins.

Have a blessed day. :)

Thanks for the answers I have a follow up question.
Do you believe anyone on this earth is without sin?

There will never be any person who can go through life and never sin.

But I do think that there are a lot of people who can go for days at a time without sinning, maybe even longer.

Thank you.
Ok next question.
Do you believe one sin is worse then another sin?

Although many Christians believe that all sins are the same, this cannot be.

We do have one sin that is an eternal sin and cannot be forgiven.

I think that murder and adultery is a more depraved sin than worrying about something. I don't have the references in front of me, but there are plenty of verses that say that there is a great sin and this leads me to believe that there are degrees of sin.

There is a list of 7 deadly sins in I think Proverbs.

The Lords say thou shall not or can’t not righteously judge someone else’s sin if you are with sin.

The Lord says that not one is without sin.

So what is that telling you?

It only takes one sin to be a sinner. And that sin will always be a part of your character.

But I do think that infants and the mentally retarded aren't sinners. They are incapable of understanding sin.

You sound like a Dr. I once knew...

Matthew 7:3-5 And why behold you the speck that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the speck out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the speck out of your brother's eye.

In context, we are to cast the speck out of our brothers eye which requires judgment. However, we are not to condem another through that judgment and we are definatly not to cover our own sin through sombody elses sin.

Peace :D

Thank you Mr.Fox for taking the time to answer everyone of my questions.

“You sound like a Dr. I once knew...â€Â
You know something you are the second one that has told me that.

"first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the speck out of your brother's eye. "

Let me ask you a question to your response
Read these. James 4:11-12, Romans 3:10, Matthew 18, Job 14:4, 1 Corinthians 6

How do you propose one cast thy sin from their life?

My assumed Brother in Christ, TruthOnly,

For the edification of all the brotherhood,
It was the death burial and resurection that was the atonement for All Sin. It is through Grace that we are saved through Faith in Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and it is that daily regeneration of the Holy Spirit that allows us to enter God's throne without sin.

Let me ask you of your opinion my friend, how do you reconcile James 4:11-12 to Matthew 7:3-5 keeping Matthew 5:22-25 in mind.

Peace.

Don't ya just love that Dime Ministeries' avatar or graphic icon?

Those two perfect looking people who look sinless to the core;

BEWARE of people who wear masks like that.

Those masks cover up a lot of evil & hatred
