Bible Study Covenant Aspects

JM

Member
3 Basic Aspects
1. Land (Palestinian)
2. Seed (Davidic)
3. Blessing (New)

Abraham had 8 sons by 3 different women, only through Sarah's son Isaac was the Covenant to be passed. Gen. 26:2-5, 24

Provisions to Isaac
1. Blessings Gen. 26:3, 24
2. Land Promised
3. Multiply descendants & become a 'people'
4. Gentiles would be blessed
5. Based on God's covenant with Abraham

These provisions were passed on to Jacob only. Gen. 28:13-15

Provisions to Jacob
1. Land Promised to Jacob and his seed en. 28:13,15
2. Seed multiplied v.14
3. Gentiles blessed through seed

Covenant provisions confirmed to all of Jacob's twelve sons, the fathers of the twelve tribes Gen. 49. Therefore, the covenant made by God with Abraham is the Biblical definition of Jewishness, the descendance of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob are by race Jews...

But if the Christian God is Divus Julius (the highest God of the Roman empire equated with Jupiter) then perhaps the Christians can forget the so-called Old Testament. If Carotta's discovery is true - and that is highly probable - it means that the Christians have been fooled quite early in their history in that the wrong god was foisted upon them. Marcion thought the same, btw.

Thx for adding. :rocol: Now take me to your leader!

Which leader? We epicureans don't tend to have leaders. Btw, Caesar is said to have been an epicurean, too. An agnostic or even atheist, though himself pontifex maximus, who became God. Not bad, eh?

Suetonius writes in Divus Iulius (88): [...] in deorum numerum relatus est, non ore modo decernentium, sed et persuasione uolgi.

[...] he was numbered among the gods, not only because of the proclamation of a decision, but also because of the deep convicition of the people.

This confirms what Euhemeros of Messene wrote about the gods: that they had once been rulers who were elevated to godhead and worshipped after their deaths because they had been benefactors.
