I have been told by some congregations that they must submit themselves to the church they go, they must be under the pastor. They need to ask permission for going abroad or buying or selling a house. They can't attend prayer meetings of another churches, they must not hear the sermons of other people because God has placed you under only one spiritual father.

And the list goes on, they can't skip the Sunday worship of their church and go to other churches even in case of any emergency. It's like eating out when you have enough food in your home.

My question is Isn't the church which believes in the right doctrine according to the bible one? Then why this divisions? If you are committed to a church, then do you need permission of the pastor to share the gospel or preach when you get a chance. Do you need permission of your pastor to sing and worship the Lord elsewhere?

If all these are true then how the Matthew 28:18-20 will fit into this doctrine?

I've heard of such "churches" too. They are more accurately called "cults." Fortunately, they are extremely few and far between.

Yep, that's a cult.

The pastor's last name would not be any of the following would it: Jones, Koresh, Phelps, Camping, Robertson, ...?

I might be kidding on some of those.

It's not the pastor but the elders of the church bullying on new believers and also intimidating the consequences of losing membership in the church.

Ah, great. They have made the equivalent of a religious union.

Word to the wise. If you EVER encounter this type of "anything", church, job, club, person, ect...walk out of the door and NEVER go back. Anything or anyone who has a controlling nature is way too much trouble than their worth and it will just lead to no good.

Dave: Yes, some groups use the tactics of door-to-door sales people, but the buyer doesn't need to buy...(it works both ways, right?)

Blessings.

Right. It's like "Freedom Of Speech". You have the right to say what's on you mind. But others have the right NOT TO LISTEN. You have the right to talk, but others have the right not to listen. Just walk away.

All of these are valid warning but as I said, these cults are few and far between. They are rarely brave enough to live in the light of day. They prefer the shadows, recruit members secretively but passively-aggressively. By that, I mean they appear to kill one with kindness, become the missing piece in the prospective members life, and make that person feel more loved than they have ever felt. Then they insinuate themselves into the life of the new recruit, slowly "suggesting" the person give first all their time, then all their money, then all their possessions to the "church" or group.

It doesn't sound like it ought to work, but then again, most such "recruits" are loners, lonely and depressed to begin with. They either have no family and friends left, or they've never had any. They become easy targets for someone trying to recruit for a cult. They don't find it strange that their new "friends" will suggest they quit their job and just "be" in the "group." The attention they receive opens up feelings deep with in them that they either have never experienced, or have not enjoyed in a very long time. They succumb easily.

Cults are becoming more aware of the obviousness of their own sinister personae, and many have become quite sophisticated at masking their intent to weave themselves completely into the lives of their members and literally suck the spiritual and financial life out of them. Some very smart, likeable people have, over the last few years, been fooled by cults, but again, they generally are lacking "something" at the center of their lives that the cults initially appear to fulfill. The best protection is to keep engaged in our own lives. Don't let our love for Christ be overshadowed by personal shortcomings and emotional issues. Participate in life. Make new friends. Be active in the church and in the community. Love others, and they will love you. Do these things, and you won't find yourself sucked in by these leeches.

What you just described sounds like a church, a youth group, and a few jobs in my area. I think you are right that we don't see massive cults or big name cults like Phelps or Camping that offten, but we do enounter cult themes quite often.

There is the person with power. The person extorts power through manipulations and try their best to keep it. A youth group near me ( that I left) would use shame to get money from thier kids, would dictate what jobs there were aloud to have, had strict attendance standards, dictated what the kids were aloud to learn and say. Dictated what political philosophy and opinions they could have. It was crazy. A separate church was the same way. There were also jobs that did the same. Several of the big companies could get into the same areas but were more stealthy about it. Mostly through passive aggression and threatening of firing or write ups if you didn't do what they wanted.

This also didn't help that this was a small town where there were little options for social and work. So they had corrupting power on their side.

Perception colors opinion.

Yeah I guess it's colored when a pastor informs a youth group to egg another kid's house because he missed a meeting and if you left the church I mentioned members would harass your family and call local businesses claiming you where a horrible person. or the job I held caused me to have to move due to being black balled every where I went.:chin

Surely you're not suggesting that that is normal behavior, nor am I saying such idiotic things don't happen. However, if you're going to judge every church youth group based on those idiots, not much I can do to help your colored perceptions.

You read way to much into my statements and are overly defensive about this. I said "some" in my post.

there must not be a restriction when it is about the care for the afflicted humans, or what would the use be if unsaved people perish because of some restriction?!, what is more important, some tradition which doesn't lead to enough salvation, or the human life?!

Blessings
