Eli, Samuel and David neglected to discipline their sons, which displeased God.
What should father David have done to discipline his son Amnon for raping Tamar (David's niece)?
What should father David have done to discipline his son Absalom for killing Amnon (David's other son)?

He should have done what the Law prescribed.

Welcome to the site, and I hope the hurricane isn't messing with you too bad.

This isn’t answering your question but I’ve been looking into the British royal family and the sons of Elisabeth are pretty immoral. Prince Andrew is accused of rape and the adultery of Charles is world famous. Elisabeth was apparently a Christian woman, but her sons are not, obviously. I suppose it’s hard to be the royal ruler and raise your children to believe and respect God.

Wrong question.

Why didn't David bring his children up to respect and obey the law.

What did he do wrong in there education ?

Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

We can only discipline our children in the ways of the Lord, but we can not make them adhere to God's commands.

David should have taught his children by staying away from Bathsheba. Because of that, God said,

the sword shall never depart from thine house 2Sam.12:10

Children sometimes learn terrible things from a parent.
