Deeply troubled by this reading

The answer is not 42. The purpose of life the universe and everything is God's glory.

How am I supposed to get past this??? The love of God seems so tainted now that I know his reasons for it.

The Goal of God's Love May Not Be What You Think It Is - Desiring God

Loving us so that He will get glory? How then does the love retain it's purity if it is done for this purpose?
I understand how you feel but perhaps if you think about more in the terms of focusing on the father instead of being self centered (not implying that you are) being humble is a gift IMO from the father and trust me I was not blessed with that particular gift:lol and I have to pray for it daily. Striving to be humble and to serve the Lord and your fellow brother and sisters is truly a wonderful feeling, the good Lord knows I have to work at it daily and probably till the day I die but I am more than happy to give the glory and credit to the Lord for anything I do or have been blessed with. Pride has always been the biggest obstacle for man to overcome IMO

Loving the Father with all our heart and all our mind and soul can only result in him paving our path in this life like a highway to heaven corny as that may sound.

How is is tainted? Perhaps you could explain more what it is that you are having difficulty dealing with.

Just because everything is for God's glory, doesn't mean that he loves us any less. He wishes the best for us and enjoys seeing good in our lives. He is like a proud parent standing over his children.

Even if we were to look at this from solely an earthly standpoint-- the things a child does are reflective of the parents. If a child turns out bad, how often we point fingers and blame the parents. If a child is successful-- wow, he must have had great parents! The reality is that these conclusions are not always true, yet it does not stop us from making them.

Likewise, what we do is for God's glory-- or it should be! We were given free will. Like the child who can choose to rise above his parents upbringing, or fall beneath it and bring them shame-- we also have that choice. Everything we do should bring glory to God, and should be for his glory. He is more than just our father-- he is also our king and Lord! He holds the highest place of honor. Why would we not want to give him honor and credit?

In ancient times men carved the gods they wanted. We make our own gods today only a little less openly. But its a deadly practice ,I urge you seek acceptance from God .
