Hi to all , and here is another verse that shows that there is a difference between John's Baptism for Repentance that was preached by 12 Apostles and by APOLLOS , BUT not by Paul .In my over 70 years of sitting in a pew , I have noticed that most Pastors alway preach from the Old Testament and the Gospels ???? Maybe it is because they really do not understand Pauline truth ?????

1) Paul has already established him self as a preacher of the grace of God ( Acts 20:24 and 1 Cor 9:17 and Eph 3:2 ) .

2) In Acts 18:18 , Paul , Aquila and Priscilla are sailing to Ephesus .

3) And in verse 24 , " But a certain Jew , Apollos by name , an Alexandrian by race , a learned man , came to Ephesus , being Powerful in the Scriptures .
#1 , LOGIOS , and adjective from the Greek word LOGOS , primarily meant Learned , a man skilled in literature and the arts .

4) Verse 25 , " He was having been instructed in the way of the Lord , and being Fervent ( or hot , boiling ) in the Spirit , he was speaking and was teaching EXACTLY the things about the Lord ( or Jehovah , and Jesus eathly ministry ) UNDERSTANDING ONLY the Baptism of John .

#1 , Baptism is still in PLAY in the middle of the book of Acts and to the end of Acts 28:31 !!!

5) Then in verse 26 , Aquila and Priscilla , TOOK him and Expounded the Way of God to him more EXACTLY .

#1 , We see that Apollos knew ONLY the Baptism of John ( Matt 3:2 ) the preaching the Kingdon of Heaven , which is still under the Law of Moses !!!!

#2 , What is the Way of the Lord ??????

# 3, Obvisously, it is something New , right ????

#4 , HODOS , means , a progress , a road, route , which is different than the Baptism of John !!!!

#5 , Acts 21:21, Paul is telling them to " FORSAKE MOSES " , So, Exactly to me the is Gospel that Paul , that the new Apostle of Grace is preaching . Eph 3:1-10 .

John came to prepare the way....the Holy Spirit wasn't given until after the resurrection.
It is a different baptism because one is pre-HS and one is after.

What are you trying to say?

I don't have 70 years of sitting in a pew :-) , but I did have 10 years as a churchgoer before I actually met the Risen Lord; and so, like Apollos, I knew about Jesus, but I didn't know Him. It seems to me now that I "knew only the baptism of John".

Derek Prince characterises John's baptism:
We may sum up its effects as follows. Those who sincerely met John's conditions enjoyed a real experience of repentance and forgiveness, which was expressed in lives changed for the better. However, these experiences were ... essentially transitional. Those whom John baptized did not achieve the condition of abiding inward peace and victory over sin, made possible only through the full gospel message of jesus Christ; but their hearts were prepared to receive and respond to the gospel message when it should be proclaimed.

Yup, that's what happened to me.

Hi Godfrey , what I am also seeing is that , John Baptism was GIVEN to Israel , Matt 3:1-6 !!

#1 , THE CONTEXT is Jewish and it is Prohetic , in verse 3 , spoken by Isaiah .

#2 , A nd in verse 6 , they came confessing THEIR SINS , is that what they do today , confessing their personal sins ???

#3 , ARE you waiting for the Kingdom of Heaven , as they did ????

#4 , John only baptized Jews !!!! what say you ???? I also taught Adult Sunday school for many years .
