diffrence between mania and adhd ?

Hi. So mania is usually part of bipolar disorder, which actually does hold a lot of similarities to ADHD. Someone who has ADHD might be misdiagnosed as bipolar, and someone who has bipolar might be misdiagnosed as ADHD.

I don't know a ton about mania, but my understanding is it comes with a state of euphoria, high energy, and little need for sleep. I can see where this might look similar to hyperactive ADHD.

In some cases mania can also come with psychosis, which means things like delusions (believing something that isn't logically true) or hallucinations - seeing or hearing stuff that isn't there. Mania is the opposite of extreme of depression. You feel on top of the world. You feel like you can do anything - and you might take a lot of risks that you wouldn't normally take.

If you have bipolar disorder, you will have periods of mania and periods of depression. ADHD isn't a mood disorder, so if you aren't having high highs and low lows, it's probably ADHD. But you can also have both ADHD and bipolar disorder.

If you think you may have ADHD or bipolar, make sure you talk to a doctor who can help you figure out which one it is.
