Dinosaurs

K

King James

Guest
Let us begin with the Westminster Leningrad Codex with vowels.

As we can see, the best word to use is incline to decribe the tail.

Job 40:17

World English Bible
He moves his tail like a cedar. The sinews of his thighs are knit together.Young's Literal Translation
He doth bend his tail as a cedar, The sinews of his thighs are wrapped together,

Douay-Rheims seems to have it the closest, although they butcher the second half of the sentence.
Moving, swaying, or bend at least is a verb as inclining is, just not descriptive enough.
The "stiff" idea is terribly wrong as it plays as an adjective and doesn't really hold any of the original meaning.

For the tail to incline, means moving upward in the air. Just recently, scientists discovered that dinosaurs tails don't drag on the ground, they are up in the air for balance. Head goes down, tail goes up. Now Cedar makes sense to describe the size and the upward position, like a cedar.

Now let's look at the whole description:

15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

The word navel is mentioned, can't be a dinosaur. Not true. The word navel can be used to described the area on his body.
You might say, not good enough. Ok. Well, two different sea dinosaurs have been now proven to have live birth.
Before this discovery, dinosaurs did not give live birth. Now they do. To find out if some land dinosaurs gave live birth,
we will have to wait for atheist scientists to tell us one way or another.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

Big mouth, must be a hippo. You mean it is impossible for a dinosaur to have a mouth as big as a hippos,
yet not small enough to be under the shade of a tree? I'm 6' tall, yet when I lay down to rest I'm about 1'6".

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dinosaurs are older than man, it couldn't have been a dinosaur.
Well, animals were created, shortly after Adam naming them. Dinosaurs are animals, aren't they?

They couldn't fit in the arc, they weren't around.
Animals aren't as big when they are younger.

Dinosaurs were big evil monsters that would have killed and eaten all humans.
How did early man separate a wholly mammoth from a herd and kill it with sharpened sticks?
How did people in a carved out log kill a whale with primitive harpoons in the ocean and bring it back to shore?

Now Job 41

Job 41

King James Version (KJV)

41 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?
4 Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
8 Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?
14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?

Must be able to fly with the bird mention.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?

Must be able to swim.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?

Must walk on land.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.

Must have a big face as the word door is used.
Scales mentioned. Must be reptillian. Fish can't fly in the sky or walk on the ground.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.

Powerful strong large animal that has a sense of humor.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

Fire breather.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

Large shiney eyes and eyelids.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you can see, this is clearly a fire breathing dinosaur, or a Dragon.

While we are in Job, I'm not going to make this a separate topic. Unicorns

9 Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?

10 Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?

12 Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy barn?

As you can see, unicorns are real: http://www.allaboutunicorns.com/warriors.php

The thread had no interest so I continued to make posts to generate interest which had no success. The only post was a mocking one.

The first two posts was my main point of the thread. That the tail inclines like a cedar according to the Hebrew, the direct translation from an interlinear. So the tail goes in an upwards direction like a cedar. Do you ever see hippos or elephants inclining their tail at all? Now visualize a hippo or elephant tail in an upwards direction. Now think of a cedar tree? Identical is it not? I go with the bible says so theory. Not worried that I'll look primitive to man that think they came form apes, Darwin actually looking like one so I can kind of see how all of that started.

I found this thread very informative. I had heard of behemouth but I didn't realize there was so much more about them. I think this is another way God speaks to us through his word.

I can't figure out what the point of this thread is. :dunno And I can't figure out if your post about unicorns existing is meant to be taken seriously.

Life was different before Noah's flood man lived to the ripe old age of what 1000 years? It stands to reason things grew differently then.."size wize" We have fossil evidence that draws a pretty clear picture of those sizes, an example found in the Paluxy River in Texas..

http://www.thelivingmoon.com/43ancients/02files/The_Paluxy_Print.html

What man has done artistically to the carcasses of some of those beasts is entertaining to say the least, mostly done to further the evolutionary dogma that permiates our society. Science has gone to great lengths to further humanism not creationism. I've wondered about Unicorns thinking they were myth, perhaps they weren't on Noahs list..:dunno

I have seen photo's of old stone engravings, not supposed caveman one's, that depicted dinosaurs. Engravings from hundreds of years ago way before archaeological discoveries. Which indicated that dinosaurs lived along side man. As I understand the unicorn was just a type of ox and it was modern mythology that made it what people mistakenly think it is today!
