I've recently read through Philippians, and in Philippians 1:9-11 Paul says, "9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God."

My question in all of this is what does it mean for our love to abound more in knowledge and discernment? Why doesn't Paul simply pray that we abound in knowledge and discernment? What would it look like for love to abound outside of knowledge and discernment if there is such a thing? Is Paul implying that we should not be able to separate ourselves from love and by our love abounding, in effect ourselves are abounding as well?

I believe Love abounds in knowledge and discernment because it is diminished in ignorance and blindness. Such knowledge therefore is pertaining to the charcter and person of Who God is Hence we have the Christ, the True Image of God sent to us that we may know God. So with this Image of God we are morally made capable through the Holy Spirit of the same Love exhibited on the cross.
