District 9

District 9 is probably the best sci-fi movie I have seen in a long time! It is very intense though so I would urge caution. It isn't sexual really, except for a alien-human reference to sex but it is only mentioned as propaganda against the protaganist. Nothing is shown. It is violent in parts but not overly.
There is a short abortion reference as well. Language is coarse but not anymore than you'd hear at work or on the street.
The story is unique and very thought provoking. I recommend it highly! :)

edit: Sorry, you'll have to watch the trailer on Youtube.

I haven't seen the film, but it sounded interesting based on the WorldNetDaily review:

He did complain about the language though. "The only thing "District 9" drips with more than gore is profanity. Though tempered by his heavy accent, Wikus drops over 100 f-bombs, usually because his character has no more intelligence and the writers had no more creativity than to sprinkle a pair of profanities into every sentence."

Yes, there is the F-Bombs. You know though, I'm an adult and I can hear language like that in context and it doesn't offend me. If it offends anyone I suggest they don't see the film, but they'd be missing a great story. Also, children should NOT see this film!

It definately had a great story, like you said. The story reminded me alot of the prejudice of the civil rights era.

I can't see this movie again though however. I got tired of f-word, and was offended by it. It wasn't even necessary, and it seemed completely out of place.

The gore was iffy at times, but thats your judgement call.

If your not offended by the language, then the movie is ok. There's really not a lot of offensive material. There are elements of witchcraft, but they hardly seem to have any effect on the people performing it.

I'd love to see it, sounds interesting, and I agree with walter about the coarse language. The language is pretty bad out on the street, and I know how to 'deal' with it so that it does not cause me to stumble, and so the movie is no different than that, in fact that makes it realistic, and I like that.

100 F-bombs is not that much if you've seen movies like The Departed or American HIstory X (242). :o.

Yeah Nick,
I've seen American History X and if someone didn't watch it because of the language they'd be missing a great movie with a great point to make.

I have been hearing ALOT of this movie lately.. I actually own it, I just haven't gotten the chance to watch it yet lol

I might check it out though, sounds like it would be a great movie

The movie was fantastic! As far as the F bombs go...a couple of things to consider.

- Most of the dialogue in the movie was improv'ed. The Director did not want anything to come across as forced so he let the actors go with the moment.

- I tell you what...If I was in that guys situation knowing what I was up against and what was happening to me, F bombs would be flowing baby. He was in a pretty intense situation the likes noone has ever seen. All bets are off on the language.

I think the language lends itself to the tension of the movie. It works. Definitely not out of place nor sprinkled in just to have language. I think it is genuine.
