This is a continuation of the discussion/debate found in the thread entitled, "
"do christians have beard? " nor mar the edges of the beard ".

Stan1953: where exactly do you see a qualifier here?
It states;
When you build a new house, make a parapet around your roof so that you may not bring the guilt of bloodshed on your house if someone falls from the roof.

YHWH was talking to a people who built “new houses” with flat roofs. Throughout the Scriptures we see people living on the roof of their house. The parapet was commanded to be built for the safety of the people. It is a law of love.

Yeshua commanded his disciples to go and witness wearing sandals (Mark 6:9). Should we do that? I no, why not? Because we use discernment to understand that the culture at that time did not have sneakers or dress shoes as we do today. They wore sandals and had flat roofs.

Kenny_ms:
No, it did not fulfill everything that will ever happen forever, there will always be some other thing going on and you have not proven to me that fulfillment was not done on the cross still...I was hoping you could do that instead of what you claim, and remember, you are only claiming those other things need to come to pass while others in the commentaries, myself and folks here may disagree with your findings. And it's true, theirs are merely claims too and none of that is to say for certain you are wrong but I have yet to see you prove you are right and those things must come to pass first. Most of what I'm getting at here leans on the fulfillment being fulfilled already or in the future as you say..

There will not “always be some other thing going on”. At a specific point in time, everything will be fulfilled that Scripture spoke of. The fulfillment that occurred on the cross was of laws and prophecies concerning Yeshua. He did NOT fulfill laws or prophecies that did NOT pertain to him or those that have a future fulfillment pertaining to him. That is why he said, “till heaven and earth pass”. Did heaven and earth pass yet? No. Neither will the law until ALL be fulfilled. Instead of relying heavily on commentaries, I choose to use the spiritual discernment the Almighty gave me (1 John 2:27).

I'd be afraid to even put a stretch like that on the table, Jocor. When you say, the least of the commandments are the law, that is completely made up. The least of the commandments are the least of the commandments and the law is the law...want me to explain that again, or is that clear enough? And I hate to sound mean there but look what you did, I felt something was in order there to help you see. You have no reason/justification for merging one into the other, not that I know of. But this is good, in ways I won't mention now. Nothing more to comment on there, but I would like to know if you made that up from scratch or if it's someone else's idea you just agree with?

I did not say, “The least of the commandments are the law.” I said, “The “least commandments” would include all commandments outside of the Ten Commandments and the two greatest commandments.” The Ten Commandments and the two greatest commandments are all part of the law. If you separate those from the rest of the law, what does that leave? The lesser commandments of the law.

Also I'm a little taken back you still don't know what sin is without the law or is it that once you stop and think about it, something so obvious that it breaks apart what you are putting out there so you just don't want to see it?.

I hope you are not referring to the conscience. Please enlighten me. I do my best to not shut my eyes to anything.

I should ask, if any of this conversation, at anytime offends you, let me know. I can't stop saying what I'm saying but I can stop the conversation all together before it's perceived as an attack or something. I ask because it's just a normal conversation to me at this point and it'
s hard or even impossible to tell when it becomes otherwise to you or others. Anyway, you seem fine but do speak up if you're not. :)

Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind.

Eugene: What is Jesus' commandment?
John 15:12 This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

We love one another by not doing anything to another that the law forbids or by not causing another to break any of our Father’s laws. Father Yahweh gave the Ten Commandments. To “love one another”, one must obey the last 6 of them plus many others in the law like not moving your neighbor’s boundary markers, etc.

As best as we can? Why would any of us want to continue sinning on purpose in breaking God's law? Surely you don't believe we kill someone accidentally do you?

An example of what I meant is the command to not gossip or speak evil in any way.

Lev 19:16 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people:

Do you have perfect control over your tongue? If so, wow! If not, then do you endeavor to do the best you can in that area? To not murder is the easy part of the commandment to keep. Yeshua gave us the deeper intent of that command to include not getting angry with a brother without a cause. It is the issues of the heart that are more difficult.

Heb 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect (does it today?), but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. The law did its job in the man asking what he must do to inherit eternal life.
No, it doesn’t make us perfect today. It simply tells us when we are sinning and provides boundaries for living in a pleasing way in our Creator’s sight.

Luk 18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

We all lack things. We need to grow spiritually and acquire that which we lack. We are NOT to discard that which we have (the good things we were doing) in order to begin doing that which we lack. This man was keeping the five commandments Yeshua mentioned that a man must keep to receive eternal life, but his heart was not right concerning materialism.

We can also use discernment to understand that the culture at that time did not have safety razors, antiseptics, or antibiotics. Shaving used to be dangerous.

Yahweh said a priest could not destroy his beard for the dead because it was a matter of holiness rather than safety. The same held true for the common Israelite.

Lev 21:4 But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.
Lev 21:5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
Lev 21:6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of YHWH made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

Why was this thread started here when there is another active thread on the same subject, and why does the Original Post not comply with A&T Guidelines for Original Posts?

Jocor, you might have better luck relocating this in the Lounge, since debates aren't allowed in the original location.

Maybe you can get one of the modes to merge the two and move it for you. :)

This thread is closed for the following reasons:

A&T Guidelines state in part "Original posts should reference specific scripture and what it is the member wants to say or ask about that scripture." The Original post of this thread does not comply with this guideline.

A&T Guidelines state in part "Subsequent responses either opposing or adding additional information should include references to specific supportive scripture relevant to the thread and offer explanation of the member's understanding of how that scripture applies." Post #5 does not comply with this and other posts are partially out of compliance as well.

ToS 2.5 states "Do not "call out" other members by name who you have a disagreement with in the OP of a new thread or in a thread they are not already in. Members should not be put in the position of having to defend themselves in a discussion they have not yet chosen to participate in." Posts 2,3,and 5 are all in violation of this.

With this many violations in such a short thread, this is beyond repair and is now closed.
