My daughter has never asked me for a Barbie doll. She does like pretending to be mama, and enjoys baby dolls. If she did ask me, I would tell her no. I don't want her imitating Barbie instead of mama. The Lord bless you.

My sisters and I all collected Barbie Dolls. Though cannot recall us ever wanting to be like or look like Barbie. I also too tended to be a little odd....I prefered to collect Ken. Then Ken has been designed to be the form or type of guy most young girls dream of marrying. So I can see how some mothers or fathers might find such examples harmful.

Yes girls still want Barbie dolls, it is still the most famous doll in the world. Girls love dolls, like I loved my GI Joe's got mine when they first came out and they were much bigger than the ones of today. And then my brother I and my cousin, started collecting them, and all the accessories that we could get, and boy did we have them. Dolls have been around a long time, I do know that Biblical Hebrew kids played with them, and that Aiesha the 8 year old girl that was one of Mohammed's 18 or 22 wives, I think she was wife number 4, if my memory is right, was still playing with dolls when he married her, so they have been around a long time. Below is a link to the history of dolls.
