Do Nice People Get Into Heaven ??

Test Question 1

I am a nice person. I do nice things. I help people. I have no formal relationship with Jesus Christ.. I die in a car accident tomorrow. Will I get into Heaven?

Test Question 2

Oprah Winfrey has been vocal in telling the world that if you’re a good person you will get into heaven. Meaning there is more than one way to get into heaven. There are different avenues to get into heaven. Her teachings are viewed by some as being similar to the New Age Movement.

Keep in mind that futurists like myself keep an eye on the New Age Movement as we believe it will ultimately lead to a one world religion. This sets the stage for all religions to come together believing there is more then one way to get into heaven.

Anyway... many see Oprah as the leader of the New Age Movement.

This is what started the controversy

Now some are accusing her of being the most dangerous women in the world. They say this because she will maintain you don't need Jesus to get into heaven.

Are there really numerous avenues to get into Heaven?

Let the games begin..

I am forming no formal opinion.. I am interested in knowing what you all think...

Jesus tells us "no one is good but God alone." Unfortunately, most people never remember the sins of omission or every time they; lie, boast, keep from helping the poor, curse their neighbors, curse God, envy their neighbor's wealth, possessions, intellect, status, etc. "He who exalts himself will be humbled."

So no, no one can get to heaven until he's first honest and humble enough to admit his sins, feel remorse for them and accept that Jesus paid the price for them on the cross. We have to be perfect to enter heaven and only Christ's forgiveness makes us that perfect.

As Tina said, "this is a Christian forum". To expect any other answer from Christians is not real.
I think it's great that you want to be a good person. I think it's great that Oprah Winfrey wants to be a good person. Why don't you just take a simple step and make friends with God.
Acts 4:10  Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11  This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12  Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
That's what all Christians accept. Just so you know. God does not consider you a good person...until you acknowledge Him and your need for Salvation through His Son. God is not upset because you want to be good. He is upset because you won't acknowledge Him. Denying Him ...is not ....good.Romans 1:19  ¶Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
To worship the true God. That is what God wants. Anything else is enough to be rejected.

nonbelieverforums, my short answers to your questions are 1) No and 2) No Way Jose, for the reasons folks have already posted.

Some thoughts on Question 1:

Is their value in being nice, moral, ethical, kind, generous, etc? Of course, and we would all do well to practice those virtues. But there is just absolutely no getting around the need for Jesus to be saved. Period.

Some thoughts on Question 2:

Thinking that there are other ways into heaven is silly. Think about it: if folks could get into heaven any old way, that would mean that Jesus is nothing special. That, in turn, would mean that he is not a way into heaven. So, in my opinion it's all or nothing: If Jesus is the way, then he is the only way. But if there are many ways, then there really is no way. So, Jesus MUST be the ONLY way.

I used to like Oprah. But she is spreading misinformation and misleading people. I wasn't aware that she claimed to be a Christian. This comes as a shock to me since I thought it obvious that she wasn't.
