You would be surprised how many people do not know how to swim.I once knew this guy who was extremely athletic.Took him out on a boat and he could not water ski at all.He was afraid of the water.

I do too.I swim very well but I feel claustrophobic underneith or swimming in the ocean. We were vacationing years ago in Hawaii. We took scuba diving lessons and they started in the large swimming pool. When we were done and it was time to go out into the ocean I could not do it.

I have a friend who cannot put his face underwater, even while wearing a mask and snorkel, while standing in waste-deep water. Su much for my snorkelling buddy...

I knew a guy who was snorkeling in Hawaii. He aspirated some salt water and got aspiration pneumonia. He became really sick and had to come home.

I took and passed several levels of swimming lessons, but am nervous around deep water. I have swam in a pool that was 9 ft deep before, I am capable of it.

I know how to swim. In fact, I got both the swimming and lifesaving merit badges when I was in the Boy Scouts. I've only been swimming once in the last 30 years though, since I'm allergic to chlorine. If I ever fall in the water though, I'll be able to save myself and anyone else who falls in with me.

I know how to swim and I love doing so, provided I have someone in the pool with me. I was the kid who believed in the shark under the diving board and the invisible pool monster who would pull you under. I was also nearly drowned by some other kids in my youth group (intentionally; they forced me under and told me to die). To this day I still have a fear of any body of water where I can't see clearly from one end to the other. That's why I stick to pools, and prefer to swim with someone else I can trust.

I nearly drowned too as a kid.We were on vacation and this babysitter was supposed to be watching me in the pool and she did not do a very good job.I guess someone pulled me from the pool.I don't remember it.I still love to swim.
I have heard of that fear in the pool.

What does that mean?

Here you go...

And Jesus was a sailor
when he walked upon the water
and he spent a long time watching
from his lonely wooden tower
and when he knew for certain
only drowning men could see him
he said All men will be sailors then
until the sea shall free them
but he himself was broken
long before the sky would open
forsaken, almost human
he sank beneath your wisdom like a stone.
