I want to know if anyone here listens to christian rap or christian punk. Now granted i do somewhat like the style but I have even found some of the songs uplifting and some of the christian punk songs have kept me humble. just go online and look up the lyrics to perseverance by 90 lb wuss and J.C.H.C by Officer Negative are just a couple of songs with some awesome lyrics. I even wanted to either start a christian punk band ( where i scream because i can't play an instrument) or christian rap. I just wanted to know if there was other out there who like christian rap or christian punk besides me.

Not really into rap, but quite like punk. Do you know any other Christian punk bands?

I've heard Dave Slayer does some rap! :D

Not into rap of any kind. But do like Christian Punk / metal. Use to like regular punk/ metal, still listen to some.

But check out Brian " Head" Welch former lead guitarist of the band Korn. He is now Christian ( Lucky dog even when and got baptized on the river Jordan!!) He is putting out Christian metal. :thumb He was just on Joni Lamb's show not to long ago

I listen to some rap, not much, but Christian metal and Christian R&B, I love, and I still listen to selected secular metal and other stuff, like Smashing Pumpkins.Remember I said selected.

Rap = Retards Attempting Poetry. I never heard of that and in spite of that i like rap I actually do though find that funny. I like rap because truthfully i can't sing very well.

Positive rap is good, I like positive rap, now Christian rap is good, why ? Because it reaches people where they are. God did not create everyone with the same taste.

The main reason I don't care for rap is , I love instruments! Not much of that in rap. Nothing like a heavy guitar lick or Drums. that's one reason I like Metal ,hard rock.... also bluegrass ! even classical music!!! Listning to Guitars, drums, Banjos or the piano!
Anybody who can jam on any type instrument is awesome! :thumb

Oh, I agree, what I mean is rap has it's place. But there is nothing like distorted guitars with drums and bass playing with heavy power. That is why I was drawn to Black Sabbath in the 70's it was not the lyrics at all it was that distorted power.

Completely agree Lewis. I agree that rap has its place, it's just that I'm not drawn to that kind of music. There's nothing better than drumming along to some heavy music! :yes

I don't like the spirit behind rap or punk.

They are both crude and unmusical and full of ego.

I disagree. I used to make Christian rap music, are you going to say that I was crude and egotistical? It amazes me how judgmental some are towards some styles of music and not others. I could find a bone to pick with every genre if I wanted to.

I get into Christian metal or Christian hard rock like Flyleaf. But anyway it is the lyrics what makes the song Christian or non Christian.

I agree completely, Lewis and Dave. One of my favourite bands is Underoath. Pretty heavy music, but it's the Christian lyrics that make it 'good spirited' music as opposed to 'evil spirited' music. It just happens to be in the genre that I enjoy.
