I would say that fundamental Christianity is oppressive. Liberal Christianity does is a lot less (but still has some).

Women were considered property in the past. They were passed from father to husband. The OT laws are very biased sexually. Women are killed for premaritial sex, but men are not. Adam and Eve commit the same crime, yet Eve gets Adam's punishment and additional punishments. If a woman has a baby girl, she is considered to be dirty twice as long as a woman having a baby boy. Touching a woman on her period makes you dirty.

Modern cultural relativism has helped women become more equal to men in rights.

But on the religion scale, modern Christianity is a lot less oppressive than most of the older religions.
