Well, a lot of the Jews themselves call themselves the "chosen people." I heard an Israeli soldier laughing about how he was one of the "chosen people" when I visited Israel many years ago. But isn't this pride? Isn't this about the same as the Nazi Germans who called themselves the "master race"? Is God against pride? Yes. "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." Proverbs 16:18.
Over the weekend I listened to a Rabbi Kirt Schneider, a Messianic Jewish rabbi, on Christian television. He was saying how God loved the Jews best and that is why they generally seem so prosperous around the world. But why is this guy calling himself "Rabbi" Schneider? Jesus Christ said "But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren." Jesus Christ goes on there to say we are not to be called fathers or masters either, so this pretty much takes in Roman Catholicism and the Masonic Lodge too, as well as Judaism.
The early Christians, most of whom had been Jewish, didn't go around calling themselves rabbis and meeting in synagogues. They went out and preached the gospel to the world. Rabbi Schneider seems to think there is little wrong with modern day Judaism, Israel, or Zionism. He thinks they should just become completed Jews by accepting Jesus as the Messiah. But it seems to me that this is trying to get converted without repentance. I think the Jews need to see the wickedness of modern day Judaism, turn from it, and repent. "Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish" Jesus Christ said. Luke 13:3. We need to confess our sins and forsake them to receive real salvation. See Proverbs 28:13.
Check out this link: http://www.realjewnews.com. This is by Brother Nathanael, who was raised in Judaism and is now a Christian street preacher. Notice he doesn't call himself Rabbi Nathanael, but Brother Nathanael. He sees the wickedness of modern day Judaism, and reports it on his website. This is the way the early Christians were.
Then a couple of weeks ago I listened to Dr. Jack Van Impe on Christian television. He was making the comment that God loves the Jews best. This guy calls himself "the walking Bible" and claims to have hundreds of Bible verses memorized really couldn't give any particular Bible verses to back up his claim, but just claimed there were hundreds of them throughout the Bible. But we need to read and study the Bible every day for ourselves rather than trusting men like Dr. Jack Van Impe, because I'm not aware of any Bible verses that say that.
I remember growing up in an Assembly of God church. A certain family came in and they were soon a "special" family. The husband was soon on the deacon board and for many years. His wife became the Sunday School superintendant and for many years. One daughter usually sang the special music. This family ran about everything in the church and became the best friends of the pastor and then the next couple of pastors. And this church dropped off and went right to hell. It now has no anointing of God and hardly anyone still goes there.
There's always going to be people like this who are proud and think they're "special" and want special privileges. But the Apostle Paul charged Timothy, who he was preparing for ministry, to do "nothing by partiality." 1 Timothy 5:21. "If ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin," James said in James 2:9. The Apostle John added, "He that committeth sin is of the devil." We need to repent of this sin of treating the Jews or any families or individuals within the church as "special" because the Bible clearly says that God is against partiality and is "no respecter of persons."
