DOES GOD WANT CHRISTIANS TO FEAR HIM?

Wonderfully explained . Amen! Jesus gave His all for us . Yes He DOES expect obedience. God is Love, reveal the scripture, and God expects us to be loving too.
Mark 22: 37-40
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Lord Jesus adds another command in John 13:34 :

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

Thus if we add all three commands, this is how it looks ( in words of the Lord)

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
'Love each other as I have loved you.'

Love is what really stands out in Christ's teaching. And I believe it's the opposite of fear and sin---true Godly love

Exactly. It starts and ends with love. Godly love. Great post!

The same difference that is evident by flying in an airplane versus manufacturing the airplane.

We ARE His workmanship, for Christ’s sake behave like it (Eph 2:10).

When I say we ought to be about the business of doing good works I really mean walking in them as unto the Lord. I will change the way I put it to be more in line with what I mean.

Anyone can do good things. Even atheists. And they do. I'm not talking about doing works for the sake of works. I'm really talking about being obedient to the call of God on one's life and serving others in love. It starts at the home for me and I serve my wife (as a servant leader) as unto the Lord. I wash her feet daily (metaphorically speaking). She's first as Christ is first. I'm to love her as Christ loved the Church (impossible task!) but I do it by the Spirit of Power. I don't understand how it works actually but I find joy in the sacrifice of myself to the will of God. If the Spirit prompts (and He does) I follow. I know I'm not doing these things of myself because I'm not this way naturally. It's a supernatural act of God in my life. Each day I'm renewed.
