Does praying makes sense if everything is already planned by God?

I don't think God answers prayers by miraculously changing your circumstances, I believe he helps you overcome the obstacles you have to face in life, helps you find the strength within.

Many believe in freewill. Our savior, was chosen before the world began, Christ Jesus, and being conformed to His likeness was chosen beforehand as well. There also maybe key players chosen for Gods purposes before they did good or evil such as Paul and the prophets, etc..

You state you are not of the faith. (not a christain). You don't state if you are a atheist. So you are asking drama building questions in your unbelief.

Justice is a scepter of Gods throne so He does punish sin. Love is the center of Gods being. A loving God warns and warns upfront as in choose life. Why the need if He has already chosen the outcome of all?

So if God asked you, "do you "want" to do evil?" What is your reply? If no, you have a starting point in receiving the mercy and grace of God found in how "He" choose to forgive us driven by His "love" and "goodwill" for all not hate and judgment.

And apart from God's Holy Spirit you wouldn't exist.
The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares:

Does this seem like a drama building question to you? 😂

I'm an ex-christian but not an atheist. I do believe in God (I think the word creator would suit better) but that God is not the narcissistic God of the bible.

There are all kinds of prayers.
I have looked at the issue in a very narrow way myself at one time
Your question belies the fact that your are thinking about praying only after you have put your spiritual blinders on.
Another way to look at it is to pray to God in thanks, Post-completion of a Plan He has completed on your behalf that you had no awareness of until it was over.
As in the case of the intersection you were about to drive thru having the green light , but for some reason you just happened to see something in the corner of your eye that was another car speeding thru the red light that would have clearly T-boned you had you not put on the brakes.
There are prayers for what we "want" & prayers for what God knows ahead of time are our needs .

Jesus overcame the world as a servant. Do you believe in Him?
