Socialism is an economic, social, and political theory advocating collective or governmental control and administration of a country’s means of economic production. Means of production include any machinery, tools, farms, factories, natural resources, and infrastructure used in producing and distributing the goods necessary to directly satisfy the needs of the people. Under Socialism, any surplus or profit resulting from these citizen-owned means of production is shared equally by those same citizens. (thoughtco.com)
None of that describes anything about the economic/governmental model of the U.S.
It is not true that because we offer welfare to those less fortunate, or affordable housing to that same group, or any other financial assistance to a group of our citizens, that we are then defined as a 'socialist' government. People!!!! It's not all that difficult to understand. But one has to want to understand the meanings of the terms that they bandy about in horry discussions bemoaning the system by which our government tries to provide that everyone of us has some financial security in our lives. BUT THAT IS NOT 'SOCIALISM'.
