salt itself is not something the body needs....
Well, I see you are not a medical student. Ever hear of electrolytes for cardiac rhythm? Ever hear of them giving soldiers salt tablets for long, sweaty missions so they don't drop over dead from heart failure? That's how it used to be (but I get this feeling you are rather young and this generation never heard of that)
Maybe I exaggerated. Some doctors today may have recognized her condition. A cardiologist today may admit the woman needed more salt, as I heard some that were against the anti-salt propaganda. But many would not want to admit it. (To be more precise--- I believe they define the upper limit as 2200mg. I think one can safely consume in the higher 4 digits or even in the low 5's daily. I'm not advocating the use of salt enough to vomit it out!!!)
Advocating the use of salt as healthful is extremely irresponsible.
How much are we talking about here? In
very large quantities, yes. But what they consider the upper limit of consumption some of us consider perfectly safe. That's the whole point.
In addition, tell that to God that who required his offerings to be salted and the priests ate of it. I respect you if you do not want to believe it's God's Word, but for those of us that do, we believe in what scripture teaches----- and it teaches that salt is kosher, and we do not feel eating God's allowable foods is irresponsible sorry to say.
"What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common" (and that verse is actually applied to unclean foods, how much more so with kosher?)
