JM: How many of you actually get out from behind your computer, into the world, and share the Gospel?
Gary: Every day.
JM: What are you doing to impact the world for the cause of Christ?
How are you fulfilling the great commission?
Gary: (1) Involved in several projects which help HIV infected and affected people. We help with bread (food and clothes) and
the bread of life (the gospel) with both the caregivers and the infected/affected.
(2) Also help run the Alpha course for new or converted Christians.
(3) Part of the church leadership and am responsible for the outreach ministry.
(4) Teach and give skills to people in the world of work to help prevent them becoming HIV +ve. Most of the prevention message revolves around Christian principles of ethics/morality w.r.t. relationships, trust, faithfulness. Teach them how to pass on this message to young adults.
(5) Trained HIV/Aids counsellor; using that skill and practical experience to develop unique messages for young sports people so that they can become role models in the fight against HIV
etc, etc
All of this is done FOR my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and all the energy and joy and opportunity is because of Him. Thank you Lord! To You be all the glory and honour!
Has my theology affected my life? Yes, 100%. Gave up a corporate/executive life to do what I am now doing. Studied theology part-time. Have studied comparative religions. Totally changed lifestyle (and friends!). Completely committed to my family. Try and make sure that everything I am doing is for the Lord's glory. Am driven daily by the Word of God.... and especially 1 John 3:16-18. We all know John 3:16, how many of us know 1 John 3:16-18 ?
John said:
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
Please read that carefully.... and then review/compare what you are doing to what Scripture tell us.
