Does your theology affect your walk?

How many of you actually get out from behind your computer, into the world, and share the Gospel?

What are you doing to impact the world for the cause of Christ?

How are you fulfilling the great commission?

Good question.

For the sake of your post, yeah, I get out and share. My theology actually helps me a great deal. I have helped others a great deal as well. I am able to equip others for the future, encourage learning, actually, the studying I have done and alot of the knowledge I have gained helps others a great deal. Helping people understand the nature of sin, how to aviod it, God in general, how to love... Lessons I have learned from Augustine, Aquinas, Iraneaus, Athanasius, Basil the Great, JPII... to name a few... all help me and equip me to be a better Christian. These theological disussions on the online forums are just a hobby for me. It encourages me to learn, and teaches me charity, and gives me a better understanding of the world around me (in a theological sense).

So yeah... my theology helps a lot. And the more I learn, the more useful I become.

I have been talking to people about Jesus every chance I get; when I take a walk, hopical visits, parking lots, tele maketers, people who come to my house, when I visit my home land etc. etc..

I think I would have to admit that my theology definitely affects my walk. I changed my college major (from bio/pre-med to theology-- you should've heard the discussion with my family over that...), quit my job to teach religious education classes to middle-schoolers, help out with youth ministry... and I've really redefined a lot of my friendships. I don't go out when my "friends" are going to the bar, or to raunchy parties, etc. and I won't see scandalous movies with them, etc. It usually really opens up an opportunity for me to share how my life has changed in Christ.

JM: How many of you actually get out from behind your computer, into the world, and share the Gospel?
Gary: Every day.

JM: What are you doing to impact the world for the cause of Christ?

Gary: (1) Involved in several projects which help HIV infected and affected people. We help with bread (food and clothes) and the bread of life (the gospel) with both the caregivers and the infected/affected.
(2) Also help run the Alpha course for new or converted Christians.
(3) Part of the church leadership and am responsible for the outreach ministry.
(4) Teach and give skills to people in the world of work to help prevent them becoming HIV +ve. Most of the prevention message revolves around Christian principles of ethics/morality w.r.t. relationships, trust, faithfulness. Teach them how to pass on this message to young adults.
(5) Trained HIV/Aids counsellor; using that skill and practical experience to develop unique messages for young sports people so that they can become role models in the fight against HIV
etc, etc
All of this is done FOR my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and all the energy and joy and opportunity is because of Him. Thank you Lord! To You be all the glory and honour!

Has my theology affected my life? Yes, 100%. Gave up a corporate/executive life to do what I am now doing. Studied theology part-time. Have studied comparative religions. Totally changed lifestyle (and friends!). Completely committed to my family. Try and make sure that everything I am doing is for the Lord's glory. Am driven daily by the Word of God.... and especially 1 John 3:16-18. We all know John 3:16, how many of us know 1 John 3:16-18 ?

John said:
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
Please read that carefully.... and then review/compare what you are doing to what Scripture tell us.

Looks like Gary lives up to Matt 25... My favorite parable is the one about the sheeps and the goats.

It is good that you have compassion for those with AIDS.

AIDS is something to fear!

I have heard stories and seen pics of people in the 'last throws' from AIDS sickness at LLU Medical School. It is SAD to say the least. You die from infections from all sorts of nasties. These nasties I have seen under a microscope like P. carinii pneumonia and aspergillus that grow inside your lungs when you are immuno-supressed.

Preventing ONE person from getting that virus is worth all your time Gary.

Keep it up. Jesus is proud of that kind of Evangelism!

My friend and I are going to start an orphanage when we get older and have established ourselves. He is currently teaching children and I will supply more the monetary end of it.

I give to CCF (Christian Children's Fund) and to a family in Peru when I can.

I need to do more though.

Thats where it comes in handy to be part of a Church or bigger comunity which has good works type activities easily available.

Well, I don't really believe it's "Ray Comfort's" method. It's pretty standard stuff, you ask someone a few questions, bring in the Law to make known their sin, then offer the Gospel. The method has been the same since Jesus Christ at the well speaking with the woman about her marriages to George Winfield and the first great awakening, documented in Amazing Grace the DVD and on Comfort's site.

I bring the Law to show sin every chance I get in my own life, I share this Law with others for it drives them to Christ...I use the Law whenever I can.

Peace,

JM
