Stop hurting your engine by 'warming up' the car when it's cold out

I dont know about that. You have to take all factors. If you just start and drive off the vehicle is not lubricated, it takes time for things like the oil to get to where it needs to be, especially in big trucks, so possibly cause long term damage. If you think about, for a time your running on no oil.

I usually wait only a minute or so to let the oil start flowing and drive pretty quick. It warms up faster when driving anyway.

You guys in US are lucky to have so many chevys, its like a everyday vehicle over there, over here you drive a chevy and everyone wants to be your friend. Lol. They machines. Mussle. Quality solid vehicles.

Solid as in junk.

Here's what my owner's manuals have recommended for the past 16 years. Start your car, let it idle for approximately 60 seconds and then drive it but be gentle (i.e., accelerate slowly, keep the speed down) while the engine and drive train get warmed up. Just so you know, my truck has a transmission temperature gauge and it is up to running temperature long before the engine reaches running temp so once your engine is up to running temp you should be pretty good to go. Final drives don't use 80W-90 gear oil anymore so there's less risk to the rear axle and bearings as there once was.

I use 75w90 or 80w90 synthetic in my rear end and transmission.

The ranger uses 75w140 synthetic for its rear end.

I use full synthetic 5w-30. I years back the last thing to warm up was the oil and transmission fluid. And yes Jason the Chevy is a bunch of junk they look good but I was always repairing my Chevy Trailblazer got rid of it about 4 months ago, and I loved that truck. They make them with cheap parts and it shows, American cars are a bunch of crap, but there is one that I want and will try to get and that is a Cadillac I love them. Also with today' electronic ignitions you can take off with the engine cold much better than years ago when we were using carbs with the heat from the manifold opening up the carb choke, the car would keep cutting off without it being warm enough.

I wish it wasn't but contrary to what Jeff says.it's the truth.I'm not paying 40 grand fir a truck that might make it 36k miles without some repair.I do all my work but still I have spent more time under the American cars then foreign.it's not that we are stupid but cheap.not to mention the no spare tire thing.

The Colorado seems to hold up

I was ticked off when they stated putting doughnut tires in cars. Saying that it was to save space. They did not want to spend the money so they cut corners.
