On June 23rd, Dream Theater is releasing their tenth studio album. Can't wait!!!

I've heard a few leaks and it sounds AWESOME!!!!

Any other DT fans in the house?

I like Dream Theater on occasion. I still need to get the album and digest it. I bough Systematic Chaos the day it dropped and enjoyed it. I'm hoping for more 7 string metal madness. :pray

Still haven't bought it yet. Still repaying some other expenses, then need to by a new cymbol kit for my drums. I've got a whole list of albums I want to buy, and the Dream Theater one is on top, so I'll probably end up getting it in the next month or two. I've heard sound samples on iTunes recently, sounds good. Reminds me of Train of Thought, but with a bit of Octavarium in there. I think they're heading down the Systematic Chaos style more so now - in that the album has a lot of variety on it.

Awesomeness.

OK, well I have FINALLY listened to it...and it is (as expected) AWESOME! I would describe it like Octavarium but with a heavier style. The album mostly conssits of long tracks, and lots of double kick, especially in the first song. I don't know the album much yet, but that will come. :thumbsup

Lyrically, how is this band?
They tend to dwell allot on reancarntion, retrospection, interspection, betrayl, and social awkwardness.

All without being to over the top or out there. Very interesting band to relax to. :yes

To be honest, I haven't dwelled much on their lyrics, but they deal with a range of stuff, like Lance said. I mainly listen to them for the awesome music. They are secular, but deal with a lot of stuff, that can be considred spiritual. They explore many ideas.

I might look into them. My only real experience is with Panic Attack on Rock Band with the drums. Talk about a nightmare! and that's just with one pedal and four pads!

Are you a drummer? I am. I love drumming to Dream Theater, and Panic Attack is awesome! :thumbsup

I bought Black Clouds and Silver Linings awhile back and like it very much. The only other DT album I have really liked though was Scenes from a Memory. I saw them last summer, they rocked as usual, though for me Dweezil Zappa and his band stole the show.

I am REALLY, REALLY enjoying Transatlantic's new album: The Whirlwind. Portnoy play a lot more selctively (I could do without the double bass so much). And it has definite Christian themes through via Neal Morse. I have better appreciation for Portnoy after hearing this album.
