Dreams --- Do they mean anything today?

I've been having nightmares the past couple of days.


One was of a rapist, violating people with the threat of a knife to their throats. In the dream I was not the person being violated, but my spirit was hovering right next to the incident. I was outraged that no one was stopping this rapist. As he was about to harm the person he held captive, I woke up out of the dream. This man had a vivid demon-like appearance to him. Not like any human being or crazy man on this planet. In the dream I knew he was a demon!


In another dream a woman was neglecting her newborn baby. I found the baby in the middle of the street, alone, with a bump/bruise on his head from falling down. I picked up the baby, went across the street and up to her apartment. She was lying in her bed as if she were recuperating from giving child birth... but the baby was a couple months old. (I knew she was just being lazy to take care of her house and baby).


Then in another dream, I and someone next to me ( a small child), somehow ended up on the back side of a jeep, holding on for dear life while the driver (the husband of a long lost friend of mine) started to speed.... with increased intensity. As I braced myself for protection from harm, he crashed the car. I woke up out of the dream without seeing the result of the crash. It was just a crash and everything went blank, I woke up out of the dream.



Maybe I have been watching too much of the news on the television! :o

With this news on the tv about this Arizona serial killer, and news stories about babies being thrown out of the second story window by their angry mother.

That has to be why I had such aweful dreams, right? :-?

Maybe I need to stop watching the news on the television. :

Relic, I think those dreams mean something. One of the main ways that God speaks to me is through dreams. This is common throughout the bible.
The things we dream are usually not literal, but symbolic.
I have a book called, "understanding the dreams you dream" by Ira Milligan. It's a christian book.
You can look up the things you see in your dreams and it will give you a meaning.
The book doesn't always go along with what i know the Holy Spirit is showing me, but it's pretty acurate.

I had this dream about a bunch of black and red-handled hammers marching like soldiers.

Oh wait, that was "The Wall". :-D

Dreams are interesting, but I don't overemphasize their meaning. I was into the whole astrology, charts, dream interpretation thing in the 80's. It was a dark, confusing world.

I now rest assured kinowing my fate is in Very, Capable Hands. :angel:

No no no no no, Vic!!! I don't mean that sort of thing!!! Dreams can be a way God speaks to us but I don't mean that in an occultic way...at all.
Most of my dreams are more in the correction vein, they are used as a form of correction or rebuke.
Some are prophetic...I dreamed we were nuked not too long ago.
No occultic stuff though!! (unless of course you think that is occultic) :o
Now take one of those hammers and bonk yourself on the head for thinking such a thing! :-D

Joseph was a dreamer. So was Daniel. God uses dreams often. If the Lord is trying to tell you something, then He is waiting for you to respond. Sometimes when I pray for people, I have dreams about them that do not make sense until years later.
Ask God all of the questions about your dreams. Who, what, when, where, how, why. Ask Him if He is wanting you to do something, warn someone, or simply intercede for a situation.
There are just too many 'If's, could be, maybe, perhaps' thoughts to even begin to list them. If the dreams were from God, then you need to discuss them with Him. If the dreams were from too much pizza, God can let you know that also.

I do think God speaks to us through dreams, but your dreams seem to be related to what you're seeing on TV. You never know though... just pray about it and God will reveal it.

Yeah, I agree, It was related to the news I saw on tv. Too much bad news junk on the boob tube.

I think I also have to stop the late night sneaking a bite off of that MilkyWay Candy bar that I have in the fridge. I dare not eat the whole thing at once! :

Destiny, I had this one dream that would freak you out. Well, at least it did me. This dream was definately related to an actual incident at the presice moment it happened, before I actually knew about it. I didn't realize what was going on until a week after I had the dream. But the night I had the dream, I told my then boyfriend about it. He and I freaked when we put two and two together and figured out the relation of my dream to the actual incident. Vic, It was Freaky, realy freaky, more freaky than having a dream about marching hammers! : I love Pink Floyd's music!

But the night I had the dream, I told my then boyfriend about it. He and I freaked when we put two and two together and figured out the relation of my dream to the actual incident.

Relic, that dream was a vision. God sometimes calls on us to intercede in prayer for a situation. It sounds to me as if you have a prophetic gift. Before you allow anyone else hand you a "How To Be A Prophet" book, I suggest you spend some real time with the Lord, asking Him what it is that He has called you to do, and how to go about doing it.

Another thing to consider, (although it does not sound like this is the case to me) is the possibility of repressed memories, or flashbacks. This would be especially significant if there were any abuse in your childhood.

My prayers are with you. It sounds as if God has His hand on you, and you posts here is a good beginning to your responding to Him. I hope to hear more about where God is taking you! :D

Relic, that was strange. I've never dreamed of anything futuristic except via military, and those haven't happened and I hope they don't.

A few years ago I dreamed several times that everywhere I looked I could see military. You couldn't get in your vehicle and drive from point a to b without having to go through military checkpoints.
The highways were full of army trucks and checkpoints everywhere.
I probably dreamed this 5 or 6 times.
A couple of months ago I dreamed I was in a high rise office building. It had windows all the way around the room i was in and there was people sitting around waiting in expectation and fear.
What stuck out was some had on the catholic black robes and collars. (I am only an observer in the dream)
All of a sudden the floor opens up and this missle starts coming up through the floor, the sound was so eery.
It gets launched but I don't know where its suppose to strike.
All of a sudden the air is sucked out of my lungs and I realize either that missle has made contact or another one landed close by. (end of dream)

I dreamed someone crawled through the back hatch of my suv and came up behind me while I was in the drivers seat, and then cut my throat with a knife.
I asked the Lord what it meant and was impressed in my heart to know that the assailant represented undealt with sin in my life, and that every time I got rid of it it would come in through a back door and "cut my throat" again.

I do believe that dreams can mean something for people today. I have had some dreams that have come true, but I've had a lot more that haven't.

The dreams that have come true have all been related to prayers I've asked, and oddly enough It seems like God will tell me things through them. It's kindof like Jeremiah 33:3.

Yes, God does speak to man, and has to me in all three elements mentioned in Joel & again in Acts.

Thing about it for a moment;

Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. This is the proclamation of the word of God bringing His plan & purpose into being.

and your young men shall see visions, What do young men do? They look to the future. They have vision.

and your old men shall dream dreams: What do old men do? They dream of yesterday. Well, I should say no more, since I've had my fair share of dreams. :-?

Now of course we all have dreams, but the most significant thing to me is this. When God pours His Spirit on a man or woman, God does speak to and through His servants in a profound manner. There are times when the meaning is not evident straight away but on such ocassions when such an event is burned into my spirit I know God will reveal it. And in time He does - sometimes in waiting on him, sometimes in prayer, sometimes in conversation.

And for a man of my age (but not that old) I love the scripture which says, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength." Truly the secret of our strength is waiting on Him.

Hmm, wish I could say my dreams meant something or didn't mean something, unfortunately I can't remember a single dream I've had in nearly ten years.
Obviously, i think the first one is trying to tell you how terribly upsetting it is that we humans in todays society don't seem to have much regard for each other (that, perhaps, the second one as well.) Rape, from what I've seen, is having focus taken off of it in our judicial system as being 'less of a crime' than murder, I think it may be disturbing you that the court system seems to be letting so many rapists 'off the hook' these days.
I would typically agree with destiny in that God does use our dreams as one of the ways of communicating with us, as well as prayer, the others we interact with in our lives, and even the disasters that happen to us.
