Easter dates do vary. However, should a particular group choose the dates?

I'll tell you the exact date of Easter, but both those on this board all the way to ecclesiastical authorities will take issue with it.

Easter is pagan, but more insightful Christians rather call it Resurrection Day. Fine. I agree. But according to Hebrew prophecy, what day was that? That was the same as Firstfruits, which fell on the "morrow after the Sabbath" during Passover week according to Leviticus 23. This year (as with most years), Easter did coincide with Firstfruits day, but is not always the case.

So, the best way to keep this day is to observe it on the Sunday during Passover week, i.e. first comes Passover, followed immediately by Unleavened Bread, and then the Sunday after that is Firstfruits.

Now.... that being said, the bible uses a visual calendar, something which the present day Jews do not, but only certain ones such as the Karaite Jews where they observe the new moon monthly in Israel. That is the proper way. So, we cannot always know when Firstfruits will be from year-to-year if we do this biblically.

Since I am proficient in calendars, astronomy and gnomonics, I can usually predict when this occurs and the calendar I propose is over 90% of the time correct with the Karaite observations. And when I am wrong, it's because of weather, which cannot be predicted. Fortunately, Israel is relatively cloudless and that does not happen often like here in Pa. :lol

I believe in a Wednesday crucifixion day (not Thursday or Friday). This is why when people steeped in tradition accuse me of being dumb like I can't count to 3 (Matthew 12:40) I get rather irritated because I know these folk probably do not know the first thing about time or a calendar, but they act like they do. Of course I know about time. It's silly to think I don't. I make sundials and know all about it.

Actually...I have thought about that too. If we must celebrate it on the actual day...some would not fall on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays

...unlike the 25th of Dec where the date is always fixed. (Not saying it is the actual date HE was born)

The only time I can remember having an Easter date was just before I was a Christian and neither I nor the girl went to church. Since then I have always been in church on Easter. But no group chose her for me. I asked her out all on my own. At my young age, I was pretty proud of that too!

Just to prove that I can keep a calendar for those who constantly try to correct me by arguing what day Yeshua died, I predict the new moon will be sighted April 11, 2013 in Israel, starting the Second month of Yahweh's calendar. If it's cloudy and they can't confirm the new moon (which I can't predict the weather), then the month will begin the next day by default. But I am 90% confident you will see their announcement that evening.

Now, keep in mind that April 11 in the evening on the Gregorian calendar is the start of April 12 (Friday) since a Jewish day begins at sundown. So April 12 will be Iyyar 1. This is also the biblical SECOND MONTH for the SECOND PASSOVER for those unclean for the first one.

Here's the link to watch for as it will occur in less than 2 weeks from now. When my critics see I am right, they will be eating crow. :lol I'll bookmark this thread and bring it up again to rub it in.

One thing: watch and hope

That's absolutely correct. Yeshua compared his second coming to watching, and was alluding to the feast of Trumpets, the only Hebrew holiday that they did not know when it began until they saw the new moon. Thus his allusion to that was by stating "no man knows the day or hour" i.e. when the moon was sighted, and likewise when he would appear. We know when it's near, but we have to watch for the exact time.

Well, well, I was correct. Here's the proclamation on the web site I have linked above:

What can I say?

Just in! New Moon Report for April 11 has been sighted in Jerusalem by three witnesses.

Here is Nehemia’s report:

tim-from-pa? Did you make this post? I've got my unbeliever, skeptical, shall I say jaundiced?, eye on you. :toofunny

Nehemiah Gordon is a big name in Karaite Judaism and lunar observing. The guy's picture shows him as a bubbling, smiling normal-looking type of dude and not someone all dressed up in a really weird way the way some may imagine because of being in a different sect.

You can go to the link and see yourself that he wrote it. BTW, he explains briefly the calendar on the previous report. Usually they just give new moon and holy day reports but it was a treat to see an informative article this month. He's spot on!

He's spot on!

Yes and so are you (in many things). Too bad typing doesn't carry the sound of my voice, chuckle-head. I know who I quoted and had not seen your self-praise in Post #11 else I would not have bantered with you 'bout that. I posted in support of your prediction and only mentioned my "unbeliever, skeptical, shall I say jaundiced" eye in jest. It is okay to allow the lips of another to praise you, and I will not retract what I said, "You got that one right, that's for sure."
