Bible Study Emotional?

Is having love for others a sign that one is merely being emotional? Is caring about others a sign that one is merely being emotional? Are Christians supposed to display emotion? Is it unbiblical for emotions to be involved at all?Can someone be emotional and Biblical at the same time?

God is described as love, agape love. Might this involve emotion? How about this example of Jesus from Mark 3?

1He (Jesus) entered again into a synagogue; and a man was there whose hand was withered.

2They were watching Him to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him.

3He said to the man with the withered hand, "Get up and come forward!"

4And He said to them, "Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?" But they kept silent.

5After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

What if someone had said, “Oh Jesus, you know that no healing is to take place on the Sabbath. That is just the way it is, and by wanting to help this man and by helping him, you are just being too emotional. Now, what would Jesus say? Was doing good for this man just being emotional or was it lawful? Was Jesus being too emotional when He was grieved at the response of those He looked upon? God bless.

God had created us emotional indeed! But that cant be our ruler or leader.

We need to keep them under subjection to the Spirit and Word of God.

They should not be what we are, but an expression of what we are.

Singing happy songs about forgiveness and heaven should make us shout for joy, dance alittle all because of emotion.

Death, sickness, and pain should make us cry.. etc...

(Romans 12:15) Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

God created us and breathed life into us.....we reflect the entire range of his emotions.... it really is that simple.

Peace

*snip*

The way I have always seen this is: control. Yes, emotions matter, but being controlled by them is different. Like . . . (thinking of how to put this) rather than your emotions controlling your mind, having your mind control your emotions.

One step further than that, (this I admit is more a personal way of seeing it) having your spirit control your mind. Perhaps you could say, it goes Spirit, then Mind, and then Emotion/body. The mind is between the two and . . . now I'm just rambling, sorry.
