Lets hope that the heart of Americans has not gotten so cold.
It has: the song is very like 1970's Malcolm & Alwyn hit, "England Goodbye!" - from their superb album, "Fools' Wisdom"
AH: its closing line - 'the writing's on the Wildwall' came from their 2 surnames: many saw Malcolm Wild & Alwyn Wall as the Christian Lennon & McCartney - their close harmonies were even better than the Beatles, having sung together since childhood - they had better voices too!
I'll post it later @ Poetry & Creative Writing Forum: they support frequent requests for the re-release of many 1970s Jesus Revolution albums, as they are SOOOOOOOOOO on the ball for right now...
Time once was when ya walked so tall
setting others free
You gave ya hand & ya worked for everyone in need
& you left them words of peace
but now
there's no peace left within you
&
you find yaself your only enemy
Turn your eyes back to the sky
bow your head & cry
Ah, ya let it all slip by.....
England goodbye
The writing's on the Wildwall!
England goodbye
The writing's on the Wildwall!
England goodbye....
I post this the day after millions watched "The Last Night Of The Proms" & sang alonga, "There'll Always Be An England!"
No there won't: the greatest earthquake ever - Rev 16 - makes every island vanish...
16Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.
17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, "It is done!" 18Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake.
No earthquake like it has ever occurred since man has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. 19The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. 21From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.
(Shades there of Daniel's word to drunken, debauched Belshazzar @ his fatal feast)...
