Anyone interested in ELB or traditional archery? I started a group in June for English Longbow and we have had a great response. It can cost an arm and a leg to buy a bow so we started making them, we found a local bowyer and now I'm learning to make a good shooting bow. My new bow will be over 100# draw and used for hunting, we're planning to bear hunt next year at this time.
Arrows can run a lot of cash so we make them as well. Using Goose and turkey feathers for fletch, empty bullet shells for tips [with a bodkin style concrete nail thru the end], we save a lot of money doing so.
Below are some pic's of the arrow tips:

A friend of mine is a blacksmith, he had his tools packed and this was something he put together in a few moments notice. To test it I fixed the head on the end of an old arrow and to shoot it. Because the nail is used with concrete I thought I'd try shooting it into concrete I hid most of my body behind a wall and took a shot. It took an inch wide chunck out of one of the blocks. Because they're made with empty shells, it left a gun power smell in the air :D . The bow I used was 36# draw, I'll have to try it with my heavier bow to see what kind of results I can get.
Anyone else into archery?
Peace,
jm
